Aimi's fanbase probably rivals Yoshi-P's by now lol. And rightfully so, I couldn't imagine anyone else for the job. She seems so involved/invested and is not just a person who was brought in to translate an interview about something they barely know/care about.

What YoshiP adresses at the 20minute mark is so true. You listen too the wrong kind of player feedback and allow the community to have leeway over what is actually best for the game. Anyone with a braincell can tell that spamming cure 3 to bypass mechanics is not a good design choice and not healthy for the game, whoever is whining about making the game "harder" due to that change, is actively hurting the longevity of the game. It's hard to balance listening to the community and thinking about the best for the game not necessarily whats best for the loudest minority.

I'm learning Japanese now so I can meet him one day to show my gratitude and appreciation by speaking Japanese to him
It seems like yoshi P understood a fair bit of what the interpreter was saying and what Quazii was saying. Edit: I’ve always known this guy was a legend, but it didn’t “register” until this interview. I could sense contentment, sincerity, and this calm passion(if that makes sense) when he speaks. When he said “no one else can do this but me”, he was simply speaking the truth. Nothing was exaggerated and nothing was false. This is a true master of his craft. I can truly understand why people like him so much now and can see why this game has been so successful. Here’s to another ten years of success
@clintonwilcox46903 ай бұрын
Well, they say the best way to learn a language is to immerse yourself in it. It's possible Yoshi-P has spent so much time around English-speaking people that he's picked up a fair bit of it, even if he doesn't speak it well enough to talk without an interpreter.
@Fulbergt3 ай бұрын
@@clintonwilcox4690 yep ! I wonder if the interpreter isn't also there to translate not only for quazii and yoshi but also for the public
@SableWind3 ай бұрын
@@clintonwilcox4690 I think this is exactly what it is. I watched the Preach interview too and both times there's times when he was nodding along to what the English speaker is saying. He also knows exactly when the translator finishes saying his statement in English and immediately adds follow up

Did you ask him when they will support SEA players on their website?
@deathstix3 ай бұрын
Ok nice interview aside (and appreciated coming from a fellow Singaporean, and Meteor Survivor), this would have been the perfect chance to address the issues that many SEA players, including some Singaporeans, have over official FF XIV support - basically, there is NO official support from Square Enix for us (except if you are playing on a US account, because they only recently included SG in). This means that many SEA players have to resort to entering fake addresses just to purchase the game from any of the official SE stores, as their countries is not listed. I am technically one of them as my account is and has always been in the EU region ever since 1.0 - but somehow I managed to pre-order DawnTrail from the EU store, with my country listed as Sweden, and paid successfully via PayPal. I can't say the same for some of my ingame friends coming from MY, PH, TH, Finally nice that FF XIV is connecting with Singaporean content creators like yourself and Arthars, but it's time to also give our SEA friends a bigger voice. (Strangely enough, Brunei is supported... don't ask me why.....)

I like his thoughts on that Cure 3 debacle. When you think about it, 1.0's broken state really could have festered a section of the community where the people that remained aimed to break it as much as possible to ATTEMPT to have some sort of fun with it. Yoshi-P came into that situation logically thinking "having useless abilities in an MMO kinda sucks, we need to make the earlier stuff more viable" and in doing so, it came across to that community as tone-deaf nerfs. That might've helped with the conclusion that the entire game needed to be scrapped, as it was much easier to design ARR around everything being useful rather than try to jam that round peg in the square (hah) hole. A spell like Scathe these days is more the exception rather than the rule with "useless" spells thanks to him.
@baldyshere2 ай бұрын
I have to pause 10 seconds in, man the smile on Yoshi-P face is so wholesome. I only played thru ARR and quit but man the care this man has and passion is so refreshing. After watching your podcast with Jesse cox I came over to see your ff content and man im assumin Yoshi is the main guy in charge (I have no idea yet) but the fact you can talk 1 on 1 and ask anything you like has a massive GREEN flag... Not to compare but I'm going to.. The transparency difference between this and Blizzard with WoW is mind blowing. You can tell one has drive with passion and love whereas the other side is just shareholder focused and through that looses its connection with its players.. It explains how GENEROUS FF trial accounts are!

You forgot to ask him why their payment processing conveniently is down before (and during this interview) and now after Dawntrail (expac releases historically being a period where active player counts surge), and their support reply is for people to buy 60 days game cards because 30 days game cards is not an option. It's been several months, since April, and they still have not fixed this "issue", which is obviously engineered to boost player retention.

Congrats on landing the interview with Yoshida! Hopefully you had a blast getting to talk to him. I would. In my honest opinion he's probably the second best gaming producer ever. Only topped by Miyamoto. Only person we can really compare him to and its hard to compare anyone to Miyamoto and what he's done for the industry. Sorry for going off topic, congrats again and some interesting questions I wasn't expecting.

My favourite part is the difficulty of changes. I found myself shaking my head because MNK had to live with useless Anatman and Six-Sided Star for all of Endwalker, because of major changes at the end of Shadowbringers that I think, they hastily planned because they really wanted to remove Greased Lightning. So while the devs do fix things, they are still a bit too cautious, and they can take a while in some cases.

Out of all the interviews I’ve heard so far, she has been the best interpreter of them all. Not that the others did a bad job, but she does come across as the most experienced. She was on point 90% of the time, very little hemming and hawing, and sounded the most natural when speaking both languages. 11/10 interpreter ❤
