Many F1 fans say that Hamilton is "closer" to them as Vettel because he is an Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and so on. But for me it's exactly the other way around. Hamilton may show us everything about his fancy life. But Vettel with his normal life with his family and without social media is much closer to me

Seb is quite unique. Seems so "flat" and bit boring.. because he kind of is. Not a partygoer, likes to live in more rural settings as opposed to urban. Simple man. And of course, we can't talk about Seb in this context without mentioning Kimi and Finland.. It is VERY Finnish attitude to downplay your wealth, it is damn right insulting to flaunt with it here. Seb is now almost quarter Finn, he spends lots of time in summers here, has done so for years. He even knows a bit of the language and ours is reaaaalllly hard to learn.. That Nordic attitude when it come to wealth does change foreigners REALLY fast. It is everywhere; no fancy cars, no fancy palaces and if you build one, it is hidden from sight. It is not cool to say how much more you have than others. I like it because you get to know the person first, then you may find out they have way more resources than you do. You can base your opinion of the human on the human, not what they own.

I love that about nordic nations.. Really humble folks but one thing about Finnish. I am from Alanya/Antalya/Turkey a very popular destination for Scandinavians. What we saw and learned is that if one Scandinavian is wearing sandals with socks that dude is Finnish. You see Germans, Brits or other Scandinavians going around and paying attention to stuff entire family all together. You won't see them busy with different stuff from one another. But if you see a man walking for the last 2 minutes with no idea that his wife is stuck at one shop and kids at another checking stuff ( kids don't notice mom and dad are not there anymore or the lady doesn't notice that the others are not there as well ) or still walking kinda together but looking like they have nothing to do with one another with huge gaps in between and everyone paying attention to different stuff.. that is a Finnish family. I don't mean to be rude I find it okay and even funny and it might be even false but that is what I have seen for long years and never got it wrong when I asked they were always Finnish as I guessed. I love your amateur rallies with old wrecked cars where even kids and grandpas can compete and much much more. You are some different kind of people but it is just amazing! People don't say that about my nation or many nations at all.. you should be proud. ( tho i hate to listen to kimi.. okay he is a chilled out iceman but seriously he is like getting tortured when he gives an interview. Mika is also Finnish but he is quite nice to talk with or interview.)
@StatementPlus6 жыл бұрын
I dont' think you know enough to generalize Nordic culture. The rich in Sweden have a culture to order 2 bottles of champagne, wine or whatever it is they order, one is for dumping on the ground to show off their wealth, one is to drink. They also dont' believe in packing up food, it is in their culture to not pack food from restaurants if they don't finish. It all becomes waste. It is seen as "low" in society to pack food. This is not reserved for the abnoxious, it's just part of the culture. A born and raised Swede told me this when I was in Sweden. Rather than guess what other cultures do or "are", you need to go there and be part of society. So I doubt Seb is like this because of his "culture" or whatever Finn influenece you perceive he has absorbed. Seb is like this cause it's just the way he is. There are low key personalities from all countries. Hamilton is not, but fair play to him. He enjoys life one way, Seb enjoys it in another way. I like Seb from what we see from him. I can appreciate Hamilton's life style choices, he also is unique because he's black and he represents a different community, a community he rightfully proudly represents and wants to represent in a typical fashion so they can relate to him.

I remember when childish Alonso made a helmet bragging about his points, even though he had benefited from the points system change in regards to other drivers like Schumacher who could only score 10 points per victory instead of 25. Some races later Vettel responded with what really matters, and where it hurts. A helmet with the Roman number "IV" for his four titles. :D

But having followed him through the years, his highs and his lows, I've grown to genuinely appreciate him for his humble, honest, yet passionate character. I know he's shown some hot-headedness inside the car on multiple occasions, but he seems so much more mature and relaxed this season. +Robert VanZant Well, I think everyone has their own perspective about Singapore. I'm still thinking he went to fast for it. I mean c'mon, race wast just started and Lewis was way behind. At first sight, he could save some points and probably use Kimi for the pace. But he tried to win the thing before the first corner. And when did I said that reliability was his fault? I said it was Ferrari's fault. But at the same time he made some little mistakes that probability would at least delay the championship later than Mexico.

Ferrari season was over @ Spa, when Mercedes introduced a new engine that legally was built to consume 1.2L of oil / 100 km. Ferrari in order to remain competitive had the obligation to do the same because from Monza onwards the new technical directive reduced the oil consumption to 0.9L / 100 km. They failed to do that...the new EVO wasn't ready and Lorenzo Sassi paid the price with his job, it's easy to blame Vettel but in the 2nd part of the season he didn't have the proper tools to fight the Championship. There is no point to blame Ferrari or Vettel, as Seb said they win and lose together.
