If you know Chicago Bears history as a GM, you have to fire the coach and bring in your own quarterback, day one. We headed down the same road.
@mykofreder16825 сағат бұрын
You do not want to leave the team potentially rudderless for half the season like the Jets because you are not going to fire the replacement coach unless you also resign. The time between the next and last game is now a month, the wheels may fall off of the replacement, but there probably only a week or 2 left. You go 6 weeks with a failed replacement coach is worse than letting the coach go until a month left. I think they let the coach do the press conference because he deserved to finish that game and answer the questions, otherwise the GM has to answer questions about the game and other things. He is either distracted because he knows he is going to be fired, or failed as a head coach because he does not have the time to have answers to the little things. Just having someone in the large staff to compile a list of important mistakes that were made in the last minute of a close game.

I wonder if Eberflus ever went to mass with the McCaskeys. I seem to recall it's happened with other previous coaches like Lovey Smith. Anyway, I'd start to cringe a little whenever I'd hear Eberflus saying, "God bless you" to players, like I heard him say to Caleb when he congratulated Caleb on the phone on draft night. My take is that as a coach, being the authority figure, you should keep your religion to yourself unless you know the player is open to that kind of engagement with you.

He got fired after a year in Carolina, wasn't even our top choice for OC, and got the role after our OC failed. I'm worried the McCaskeys are going to choose him based on his likely being a cheaper option, and the fact that he's already here is a convenience and bonus.

Wash, rinse, repeat. Every 3 or so years. Accountability starts at the top. They could bring in Gruden for the HC spot, Ben Johnson at the OC and Vrabel at the DC position and it still won’t make a damn bit of difference. This is going to keep happening unless/until Virginia(obviously, not her but you get my point)sells this organization to someone who wants to see this team succeed. Once they are competitive enough on a regular basis and even get lucky to win 1 or 2 Superbowls, the new owner(s) will pretty much be printing their own money. Anyone with 1 halfway working eye knows that Chicago makes the NFL better when they’re winning. It’s just something I can’t make tangible but believe me, it’s there!!!! We’re all fucking disgusted by all of this. Not that me saying this will change anything, but as far as I’m concerned, I refuse to continue supporting this organization. Only thing to make me come back is the sale of the team. Otherwise, I’m done. They might as well move. That will 100% kill my support of them. Again, no one is waiting for my opinion to care or make a move but I’m just over all of it. After almost 50 years of blind support, I will no longer put another penny in their pockets. They clearly don’t give a shit about their fan base. If they did, we wouldn’t be in this mess again. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️

I’m all in on Brown, but even if he’s 5-0 you have to do your due diligence and turn every stone over. Thing is if they keep Brown it’s breaking some bit of the mistakes they have made in past QBs. You atleast are keeping some type of continuity and not putting a whole new system on the qb. Yes Brown will implement his system but it’s not far off from what Waldron did it’s just Brown is a competent coach and knows what he is doing.

That 13 yards, ( in Washington ) what really what really stung is all you had to do was tackle him inbounds. Bang, time runs out, game over. Or at least there was a good chance at a pick cos you know where the ball is going. That’s why really why the play was so egregious. How could he not think about that? Or no one on the staff. That was the play where the game should have ended. They had so many options on that play and all they had to do was put a man there instead of giving up yardage. Thats the whole goal on defense” every play you want to give up zero yards. “ In a game of inches, every yard matters, and this guy defends himself.

20:45 that's bonkers in a league with so much variance. 5 weeks isn't near enough time to properly evaluate if someone is capable of handling all the duties of a head coach. They're almost better off if he distinctly proves he can't handle the job. It's nuts to gamble the next five years on the next five weeks, imo.
@johndoe098762 сағат бұрын
It's also nuts caring so much what the players think, imo. They'll turn on anyone the second things don't go well. It's the coach's job to get everyone in line and it's the GM's job to bring in players who will fall in line. There's maybe 6 guys on the roster that will even matter in 5 years. Throw out everything about this roster and anything that happened this season and have a process for getting the best person to develop 13 into a 15 year starter. Don't get excited because things went from disastrous to competent. Big picture.

You were all hoping that perhaps someone would throw someone else under the bus so you could have a story and gain viewers. Caleb has A LOT to learn and improve. He should have known the clock and the TO. Caleb should feel lucky he had a scapegoat for people to focus on. Sounds like the team didn't vibe with the coaches. So probably a blessing this happened in a weird way so changes can be made.

Did you see Caleb's post game presser after eberflus threw him under the bus, saying he needs to be better ? Caleb said he's never had the authority from the staff to call a timeout. He's the franchise qb & yet the staff doesn't give him full reign to do what HE feels is necessary to do on the field? Flus not allowing him to call timeout is unacceptable from a coaching staff. Do you think Montana, Marino, Brady, the mannings, brees, rivers, mahomes, fouts and any other qb you can think of was not allowed to call a timeout if they didn't like the play call or the way the opposing defense was lining up? I don't blame Caleb at all. He should've defied authority and called the timeout.

I love how everybody keep trying to say how fast it turned around.Let's be honest, they was never gonna beat the teams on the back end of the schedule... But this is how dumb the fanbase is, believe in false. Hope the Chicago Bears always was trash. They never fix the problem
