I would not even attempt what you guys are doing past the renovation, the maintenance, staff, taxes etc are the real issues and where most people run into problems. Perhaps once we have robots a lot of these headaches could go away, we hope. Anyhow, it is encouraging that brave souls like you have the courage to tackle this incredible project and saving what is a treasure from the past, best of luck!

Like many others I watch this kind of video, because of my personal interest in historic properties and antique furniture and art and also to get inspiration for our own project. However I have to admit, what I like best about your channel is not the chateau (which obviously is glorious) but I love the chemistry between the two of you and your devotion towards realizing a common dream! Many couples break apart over projects like these, your grow stronger together and you complete each other..it's a pleasure to watch!

I suspect this was just the tip of the iceberg! Thank you for showing us around the chateau and sharing your plans for the next renovations. It is fantastic that you were able to buy the property with all its contents, especially the pieces from the original owners. It must feel like a daily treasure hunt, opening cupboards and finding new things! I don‘t know what part I am looking forward to most - your own private apartment or the blue suite - but I can‘t wait!!!

Thank you Brett and Denise for a most wonderful and amazing tour of your chateau, it is unbelievable the items that were graciously left for you, these make up the history of this monumental place that we are proud for you as Aussies to have taken this on restoration on behalf of France and the French people. Looking forward to the coming months to see how your private residence is progressing and the up keep of your exisiting Chateau. Would be also great if Brett could run us through the outbuildings and the farming equipment that we find him driving around the grounds. Thank you, take care and God Bless you both 🙏😇👍🇫🇷🏰

It's hard to not be grumpy when you are cold and damp. Summer is coming and the Chateau will be so much different when you can open the windows and shutters and let it breathe. What will you do with the started commercial kitchen? Will you finish it or change it? The room with the housekeeping books would have been the "Ladies" room. The Female Head of house would have used that room to plan meals with the kitchen staff, to order supplies and make schedules for housekeeping and Entertaining. In those books you will find what all the rooms were used for and by who. The running of the House was a big job with lots of staff. The planning for events, meetings, parties, right down to menu's will be in those books. How exciting to have them.. now you need a translator.

Selling up and moving from Australia to France is tough anyway and you've taken on a huge project as well. It's overwhelming and an emotional roller coaster. But as each month goes by challenges become achievements and life begins to fall into place. It's taken us two years but we're now living our best life with no regrets. And of course these days access to social media media means it's easier to connect with others whose similar experiences you can share and learn from. Best wishes with all the work you have planned over the next few months. Maria et Rowan

I never understand chateau owners who live in the smallest out building and not have the best suit of the Chateau to themselves or even create an amazing suit with there living needs in an area like the loft. You say you will be to busy to enjoy, I say rubbish, I say its all about the money. Why not just enjoy what your selling to everyone else, after all you own it. Its a stunning chateau, and if you gave a custumer something less they wouldn't complain as they would still be staying in the chateau. I just spent visited chateau Des Melalandes, it has exceptional gardens and the interior is a mix 1800 & 1930 no staying there. In all the times I've visited chateaus over the years, this one yesterday has given me more pleasure and enjoyment. And the €13 each was well worth the money. Bird displays, sword fight re-enactment, it was funny. So relaxed, gardens are beautiful, Amazing. I would love to say that about yours to. Best of luck. 💕

When these treasures come into the wrong hands, it’s only the dollar value, the sad thing is, the history is than lost, it must have been overwhelming for you to find all these belongings, all you need now is getting the title that once existed, staying there, for us it will not be an option unless you‘ve got a lift, we‘re in our 80‘s going onto 90 but it would be an extraordinary experience what I‘ve seen so far and good luck with all the renovations, the renovations will be fun, the business side of it will be stressful at times but without a business the project wouldn‘t support the entire strategy

Renovations are super hard on relationships and jokes abound on it, your relationship will no doubt evolve as a result but yeah, that's life for all of us, growth and change and the discomfort of it all.....
