From 5:28 onwards: So Tebrau Highway have finally started partially using the new viaduct over the KTMB railway from Jln Wong Ah Fook/Jln Tun Abdul Razak bound for Jln Lingkaran Dalam. So the next thing is probably for the shifting of the other direction (Jln Tun Abdul Razak-bound) to the remaining part of the new viaduct so that the other old viaduct can be demolished & replaced with a similar new viaduct. Then can only the JBS-bound track of the remaining EDTP be constructed, I guess.

To those talking about HSR, i don't think our country can afford to build it without foreign funds. The second best thing is to build another railway line along west coast of Johor from Iskandar Puteri through Pontian, Batu Pahat, Muar and then splittting at Tangkak into two tracks - one heading northeast to join the existing KTM Gemas station, and the other heading northwest to join the existing track just north of Tampin.

Even after RTS completed, there will be still traffic jam on the causeway. Why? More commuters. Experience from Shanghai pudong and puxi. Untill more than ten tunnels and bridges completed, no jam. But this will never happen between SG and JB.
@nick_1551 Жыл бұрын
That's not quite a fair statement unless you are referring to the upcoming KTMB ETS & Komuter services😅. The RTS is meant to give commuters another option to cross both countries. The RTS itself will not contribute to more jams on the Causeway when it is itself another route running parallel to the Causeway. The RTS is itself not part of the Causeway. And even with RTS, if there were no additional services from within Malaysia or even within Johor or JB itself, or from Singapore to bring ppl to the customs, the Causeway crowding won't even be worse. (we know ETS is coming, the expansion of PLUS lanes from Senai to Yong Peng has been approved, & Iskandar BRT is starting construction soon in M'sia, & RTS is linked to the Thomson-East Coast Line & near the upcoming North-South Corridor in Singapore.) My point is that we can't just simply say even with RTS, Causeway will still be jammed. Because it depends on how they choose to cross the border. For those coming via ETS/Komuter by then, they are more likely to use the RTS as Bukit Chagar is directly linked to JB Sentral. BRT crowding will largely depend on how they plan out & integrate the routes to Bukit Chagar & Johor CIQ. It also depends on the transport nodes that those going to or coming from Singapore will use. If they are coming from Central or city, then they will definitely use the Thomson-East Coast Line to Woodlands North. So by default, RTS. Same if they are coming via the new North-South Corridor by then & just going to JB. Just park at Woodlands North only, then take the RTS. The things I see that will worsen the Causeway jam, however, are the recently approved plans to improve the SDE & the expansion of PLUS to 3-lanes from Senai Utara to Yong Peng Utara exits. These may end up encouraging more ppl to drive in & out of Singapore/Malaysia, although the latter is more likely to impact 2nd link instead of the Causeway. Also, the upcoming North-South Corridor in Singapore may encourage more to drive as well if they are going beyond JB to other parts of Johor & other states.
@mingwu1133 Жыл бұрын
Well explained. One RTS and causeway, the second link are just not enough between SG and JB. Jam will be improved compared today. I wonder why no ferries between Pungol and Pasir Gudang, Tuas to Forest city, Jurong to Puteri harbour, they are all only ten minutes ferry. With these three ferries, I think there will be no jam on the cause way.
@nick_1551 Жыл бұрын
@@mingwu1133 Tuas Port is primarily for cargo in replacement (& also expansion) of the ports at Pasir Panjang and Brani. So there's no plans for it to haul passengers yet. As such, there's also no public transport to Tuas Port, with the nearest bus service a 5-10mins walk away from the main entrance of the port. Not sure about Forest City's end. We can call for various passenger ferries at the various ports & jetties, but if there's no plan to connect them from the port or jetty to the other areas within & beyond JB or SG, then it's as good as none.
