I’ve never agreed that following orders is not a defense, it shouldn’t be a complete dismissal of charges perhaps, but for any man if an order comes down to do something or be shot, you’re likely to do that something.

Did you not listen. A colonel refused to sign the order. He was simply kicked out of the army. Besides if Dosler has simply not pressed the issue after push back by his subordinate the order probably would not have been carried out and Kesselring would be none the wiser.
