13:37 After clutch jobs, I've never actually been told that a new clutch has a break-in period... Now I know. Thanks for uploading!

just purchased these exact parts, I will be installing those soon so I appreciate your video and thank you . I would also say you should remind everyone to not forget to Replace the Oil.

Very useful video. Feeling much more confident and can't wait to get this job done.

Good video! I'm about to tackle it on my 2010 Forester. Yes, removing the engine might be a little easier, but not totally necessary....and most of my Subaru friends say it saves less than 2 hours of work all together which isn't much.

What are consequences of not breaking in the new install clutch properly and how do you know if the clutch has been broken in?
@d0rkiishchris7 жыл бұрын
my friend owned a late 90s Impreza and replaced the clutch in two hours. I asked how, he said removing the engine, as it is so small and lots of engine bay space, is far easier.
@Rejukem6 жыл бұрын
It is easy but you have to remove all the engine fluids which can be a pain.
@lllowelll6 жыл бұрын
no. just the coolant. engine oil will be down in the oil pan. or you can even plug the lower and upper rad hoses with rubber cap to save most of the coolant, top off the rad when done.

any tools larger than 22mm needed to do this job?

I actually installed an Exify clutch kit in my '05 Honda Element. Greased parts as described in the video. Some say you also have to apply grease to the *inside* of the release bearing. I followed the Exidy instructions presented herein. Might have an issue related to lack of lubrication near the end of the clutch travel. Why not great the inside?
@KillaZamii4 жыл бұрын
Question: when I did my clutch the release bearing did not have those springs holding it to the clutch fork assembly. I assumed it had none but I'm 99% sure that the last person who did the clutch just forgot to reinstall those springs. Would not having those springs damage the clutch or car in any way? Because I have already reinstalled it.

Hello, I really appreciate this video. I have a Japanese Subaru Impreza G4 2012. It is giving the same noise as the demonstration video of a Subaru Impreza. In additional to replacing the bearings in the housing, I would like to replace the flywheel, clutch dics, and pressure plate. Can these Exedy Clutch Disc Kit work for my Impreza G4?.

2010 legacy i. throw out bearing was making noise that's why I started this job. I am all the way up to the point where I unbolted the bell housing, but the transmission and engine won't separate. everything came out smoothly with no issues to this point. Any recommendations to get them apart?
@readpsalm37265 жыл бұрын
What did you end up doing.? ..we are at the same point now.
@hipityhopitynow5 жыл бұрын
make sure you have all the bolts out and then grab a pry bar or long thin flathead screwdriver and gently work your way around the entire engine and transmission until they separate. Or you could just keep shaking it till they come apart
@jibbsey2 жыл бұрын
If it's a pull type diaphragm clutch assembly then you'll need to separate the clutch fork from the throwout bearing before removing the trans, done by removing the access plug behind the starter motor (l/h side of bellhousing) and removing the 25mm dia fork pivot shaft by screwing a 6mm bolt into it to pull it out, this is because the throwout will be clipped into the pressure plate diaphragm, once the 25mm shaft is out, the fork will lift up and over/off of the bearing, trans won't budge if this is not done.

Can you use a turbo spec clutch on the N/A engine for a 2007 2.5L? Is there a benefit? Like more grab and longer life? I hate the stutter on my clutch for the N/A model.
@WickedCrispy5 жыл бұрын
The NA 2.5i has a 25 lb. flywheel to fool the driver into thinking there's more torque. The idea behind nonsense like this is the manufacturer would rather have grandma burn up the clutch rather than strip some transmission gears by failure to rev match when downshifting. I'm getting a Stage 1 Clutch kit installed alongside a 12 lb. flywheel in a few days on my 2.5i. If you think a 25 lb. flywheel is bad you should google "clutch delay valve" which is what Honda had on my Fit Sport manual.

Does a wheel alignment need to be done for the front wheels since you removed the axles?
@9Demon9Slayer93 жыл бұрын
No. Only need an aligment if u mess with shocks, or tie rods. (Camber and toe)
@jibbsey2 жыл бұрын
Probably, as in this vid they removed the upper knuckle bolts which are usually eccentric for camber adjustment, easier to drop the lower balljoint instead.

It kinda looks like this guy's first clutch job any tech worth his salt would replace the axle seals and the rear main they are all right there I would pull the engine it is easier and you can change all the fluids oil. antifreeze. and it would be a perfect chance to change all the leaky seals the scooby doos are famous for valve cover and front and god forbid the head gasket but with the engine out replace the timing belt front and rear mains camshaft seals and intake if you so desire water pump t-stat ect ( personally I can't believe they still make the boxer engine)
@Popit-ns3xh4 жыл бұрын
stop making the boxer engine or work with someone who know how to make seals and gaskets XD, wife 2015 subaru with 35k miles started to leak from the timing chain cover .. come on subaru, I did beat the hell out of my 2010 Civic Si and never had a problem just with regular maintenance
