Thanks for your video. There's one thing I should make a suggestion to you both. If you're using an Uber driver and you're paying them cash. They probably wouldn't be insured if there were an accident. Basically, if you got hurt on that trip. You wouldn't have any way to be compensated for that because Uber will only cover it if it's legitimately on the trip in their system. Just be careful. Thanks for the help.

In Google maps you can ask how many minutes until your destination also you can ask what is my ETA to my destination and it will show you I use it all the time and my maps.
@LiveAccessible
@LiveAccessible 5 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! We use the Google maps ETA all the time. ☺️ The idea of asking the driver is so that they can be accountable for the time that they said. It's so if we ask what the ETA is even if we know and they say it's 20 minutes, they kind of have to stick to that because they already told you.

Well, if Uber or even lift cab services or buses ever become available in my area I will be sure to take all your tips to Heart. Till then I will just rely on my beautiful wife and my assisted driving program. Very well done video Carrie. Very very informative.

Hi Carrie. Thank you for another wonderful video with great information. I am actually new to your Channel and found out about you through Sam with the blind life. It is great to connect to another person who is legally blind. Thank you for all that you do and that you continue to do each and every day. Hugs.

Hi Steven! Welcome to our community! I'm so glad you came over here from Sam. He's such a great guy and we really enjoyed our livestream. I love KZbin and meeting so many people who are blind and visually impaired. It's such a great support all around! Thanks for watching and we'll be doing a lot of content all related to blindness/low vision. Tech, tips, home, orientation, encouragement and more. :)

Wow! This is a really useful video. I am still on the process of familiarizing myself with the app. I have only used Uber twice and had a good experience both times. I really like these tips, and being that my husband does drive for Uber, I think some of these tips, texting ahead and asking them if they are willing to wait and also rating them, are just as helpful to the drivers. Thank you again for a really informative video Live Accessible❤❤❤

I plan on doing an overview of this app in the future for people like you and others who have commented. Plus, they keep changing it and it's annoying. Thanks Te. 💕

Another tip I would have especially if you are blind or visually impaired and only guide dog because there’s so much fake service dogs around carry a small symbol cane to say that you are visually impaired and that obviously represents it accurately
@LiveAccessible
@LiveAccessible 3 жыл бұрын
That is a great idea! I usually have a regular cane with me, but if someone doesn't use a cane all the time, having an ID or symbol cane is a very great idea. All the best, Carrie.

With the Uber app you can also dictate the address where you want to go in the app. Some blind or visually impaired people use it!

Absolutely! We are find and I am visually impaired and use Uber all the time. ☺️ Dictation definitely works well too.

Great tips I personally don't use public transportation. If I don't have a ride I walk, I love walking everywhere. The closest shopping center is a 30 minute walk one way. Taking a long walk to the store gets me out and about. However this video is very helpful if I ever decide to use public transportation.
@LiveAccessible
@LiveAccessible 5 жыл бұрын
Well, it's not public transportation. It's very similar to a Taxi, but more technologically advanced, cleaner cars, and mostly nicer drivers, oh and cheaper, too. :) I used to live in New Jersey though and I used to be able to walk like that. Here they don't believe in sidewalks and "close" is more like an hour or 5 walk. lol. I really wish that they would make more sidewalks though because there are a FEW things that are close and just too dangerous to walk to.
