Excellent teaching! Last month “another” Josh taught me the American consonants sounds. The Josh’s are rocking !

Thanks for mentioning about "going into the SCHWA first, and holding it there while saying EE to have/keep the QUALITY" (06:20). Great reminder. I really appreciate your excellent teaching!!! BTW, would you mind talking about "speaking from the middle" concept sometime in the future (only when it's possible or relevant)?😄 Thank you.

Well, it's kind of implied in the center of gravity, but I decided to stop using the speak from the middle idea because it was helping some people but confusing others, sometimes causing them to break the tongue backness or keep the throat too high. I've had a few different concepts through the development of the course that have been like that. I might add it as a side note in a short or something.

@@NativeEnglishHacks Yeah, it's been confusing for me, too. But other American accent coach told me that "the point of resonance is in middle of the mouth", or an American dialect coach said "American's tongue wants to be middle". I don't know what they meant was the same as "speaking from the middle" idea, but it just kept coming up, so I wanted to ask you here. But if you stopped using it, that's cool. Thank you for letting me know. Have a pleasant day!🤩

@chiggys.587 They're essentially just describing the effect of the center of gravity. As for resonance, as far as I know, the scientific literature puts it at the back, but as I've said before, that's not quite right as there is some in the middle, so I say, "the back half of the mouth". Both sources are partially correct, but it's a result of low voice placement combined with the center of gravity. As long as you have those two in place (along with the other settings), you don't have to worry about trying to intentionally speak from the middle. In fact, trying to do that is kinda backwards and completely overlooks voice placement (as I used to do)

Thank you for your clarification. I want to continue talking about the topic, but I shouldn't waste your time. Please know that you're appreciated and valued. Thanks again!!! Cheers 😄

No time wasting here lol. The more comments on a video, the more the algorithm will like it. Plus answering questions is part of why I'm here. But if you want to drop it, that's fine, too. Either way 🙂 Cheers

where exactly is the tongue tip or blade located? For many sounds like t or D where does it exactly touch? right behind the front teeth without touching the teeth? how far is it from the front teeth? 1 cm?

See the maps in the lesson before the previous one. You can skip to the T/D/N section kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWPOpaONqLdombM Note that because the focus of the lesson is on posture, I tried to include the most relevant details of each sound, but there are more details in the main lessons for each sound (T, D, and N each have their own lesson; for example, just look for "English Hacks T sound")
