I am showing you my home gym set up and giving you a brief glimpse of what exercise looks like for me. Individuals with disabilities have to approach things differently than most. Even though we may not be able to do things the conventional way, we figure out a way to do what we can.
If you want to help support my journey, it is never expected but always appreciated! Here are a few ways to support:

Well forget about that stepper I mentioned, you've got all kinds of gym equipment up in there girl! But then again, it may be something that would work your muscles differently- I'm certainly no expert, other than what I've researched & learned about my own limitations. I'm glad you showed a few clips of your exercise, since it demonstrates pretty clearly what you've been trying to explain. *And noooo, not the least bit pathetic. Actually, it's kinda badass, all things considered. Having a greatly reduced muscle mass, it makes sense to my brain that the ratio of oxygen needed to get to those muscles would also be compromised? Which would tire/wind you easily? Ok, duh~ I just looked it up & read that SMA does indeed "compromise normal breathing, due to weakened intercostal muscles." The motor neurons/nerve cells in your spinal cord barely exist, & what are there, do not respond/signal for voluntary muscle movement normally, so the muscles shrink from inactivity~ not YOUR inactivity, as primary causation. Now I get it. Which make sense that you have to be measured in your movements. Like you said, protect what's there while also trying to develop them even more. *Did you say something in one of your posts about taking that Spinraza treatment? I think I remember something about that helping rebuild the missing (SMN?) protein, not sure, but I think that's what you said. Again, just like the hair thinning Kandi, your pebble in the pond has an infinite ripple effect outward. It need not be the same issues people deal with, it's more about being able to be open w/what we do live with that encourages others to feel less isolated or weird, right? We seem to be programmed in life to meet some kind of "ideal" measure, whether it be physical, psychological, spiritual, whatever. It's BS, & it's not right~ which is why exposing ourselves helps bring us all back to reality, one which includes extending the same grace we've been given in this life. Seems simple, but we're a dense species imo One last thing, then I'll hush. I meant to tell you about a weight training method I've had good results with, it's called the "slow burn method", developed by Fred Hahn. You can look it up, & there's some older videos here on the tubes. Basically, you get more bang for the buck, energy expenditure wise, & it truly prevents any kind of injury from weight bearing exercises & resistance training. You also achieve the same results in far less time, since you do each exercise to your own personal threshold (to failure) only one time each~ instead of many reps & sets. It's change my world, to say the least, since I wasn't really able to do a lot of either because of my limits & need to protect my spine/joints/bones. It does the same for muscles, especially muscles. I heard about from Lisa Weiderman, the carnivore eye doctor gal, & she has some posts on it too. Have a good nightSammie

Yes, I have Spinraza injections every 4 months. They are supposed to help my SMN2 proteins act more efficiently due to my not having any SMN1 proteins. It’s so confusing to me still 😣. It seems the closer I get to the next injection, I feel weaker. I hear this from other SMA people as well. They are talking about upping the doses so maybe that would work but that is still being tested. I will look up Fred! Ty for your sweet reply. You are a world of knowledge as always. ❤️
