Nice video SteveDD1. I wish you and I could get to know each other more so I could ride with you one day probably over a level crossing in York (North Yorkshire) or over Exeter red cow, Eggesford or Crediton station level crossing (Devon). Just a really nice video mate 🙂👍🏻

those buildings to the left at the back are now history with the building of the new gwr depot

Did you see that cyclist at 1:55 how did he get round the crossing?

+Joe Thorpe There is a crossing attendant which can tell you if you can cross if safe to do so while the barriers are down.

I would have thought it would be safer like Maxey: The left barriers go down, then allow some time for any people on the crossing to cross before the right barriers go down.

yer i watched the first one and it had 2 barriers and now its been updated. i wonder why.

I'm guessing that this crossing was upgraded because of a renewal as there was no resignalling project around that area and the crossing is still controlled from Exeter PSB.

and with there only being two long barriers that would still give ignorant drivers time to run the level crossing if the lights started flashing. the new barriers are meant to stop this with the left coming down first (depending on persons view point of the crossing) to stop traffic and then then right hand ones come down after

Don't you think 'Exeter Level Crossing' is a far more sensible and appropriate name for it? Everyone in the country knows where Exeter Level Crossing is but hardly anyone knows where Red Cow Level Crossing might be.

Precisely, Steve. I no longer use the "official" names of crossings because they just don't make any sense to me.
