I'd never have guessed, ER !!!! When you've got your heart set on something you just can't ignore it or you'll end up twiddling your thumbs and talking to the plants. The trio of reservoirs at Christow are truly beautiful. I believe they've been there well over a hundred years.

I know Jim, you thought it would be a H2 or a velo. I've only been to that Reservoir and keep meaning to look at the others but the fuel light went on when I got there, and with the monkey on the back I though I just better get back. Do you know if those Reservoirs are man-made? I'm guessing they are? I'd really like to explore up there more now I have the right bike.

@@exeterrider I actually thought you would go for a more commuter orientated machine like an MV Agusta. As far as I can recall the three reservoirs were dammed with a 20 year interval between them, Tottiford being the first in the early 1860’s.

What a great lil bike. I really like the red & black look. The footage of your son sitting on the bike was priceless. I remember being young and soaking the whole experience up, even if I was just sitting on the bike. I just bought my 1st RE, a 2017 Bullet 500.

Love that you've gone for a 350, really is a sweet spot for enjoying motorcycling. Cast wheels is great too, easier puncture repairs than tubes. Great bike choice👍

Great choice of motorcycle. I've owned my Meteor Fireball Yellow 350 for three years & 15,000 trouble free miles. Not my only bike but my go to bike. Enjoy yours & keep up with your excellent videos.

Nice choice, I’ve the Fireball in yellow. Replacement RE heatshields are about £20 and a 2 minute job to fit. The touring seat also makes a good upgrade and I have the small smoke screen as the larger screen can cause buffeting around your head and the small screen deflects a bit of wind off your chest at higher speeds. There are a couple of good Facebook groups for RE’s and for Meteor owners which are well worth joining.

I put a touring seat on my Meteor and didn't find it to be an improvement, it seemed too firm. I put the stock seat back on in the end. See how you go, we're all different and what didn't suit me may be perfect for you. 👍

Hi mate. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. My lads love mine. I live in Ulverston nr The Lake District. I rode down to London on mine. I was part of the Dave Day Ride. Left The Ace Cafe, London, Saturday morning motorway all the way back A/M40 and then M6. What a ride and she just purred down to London winding down on the A roads then averaging 65 - 70 miles an hour back on the motorway to the end point Barrow in Furness. One of my lads pillioned with me and the other was happy with another rider I got to know, so they could both enjoy the experience. It's a brilliant bike. Engineered and designed in the UK ( Harris Performance and the Bruntingthorpe development Centre )Built in India. It's beautiful. Enjoy Ps. ER will be proud 😂

Great looking bike, man. I just joined the RE family as well, picked up a Shotgun in Stencil White. Still have the g310gs, different types of riding. Love the RE 350 lineup for sure. Oh and glad to hear your BMW is worth more now than when you picked it up. My little g310gs dropped in value big-time, which is the other reason i kept it, trading it in would've been bairly better than giving it away. Anyway, great content as always.

Very good buy ER. I loved my Supernova but I did actually always hanker after a red fireball. Much easier to clean. By the way also the screen buffeted me a lot and I recall we are the same height 5'10' ? running it clean and screen free might be easier! Anyway great video and love the bike. Well done 🙂🙂

Thanks mate, you are right about the cleaning side of things. I was watching your vid again a couple weeks back before I bought it. I get what you mean about the screen, when I had the supernova it did buffet a bit, but I was kinda ok with it because it caught the flies well, and my visor stayed clean. Just the Hunter shocks to pop on and I'll be happy with the suspension then (it makes a huge difference!) Many Thanks, say Hi to Suzi for me. The off-center speedo and the sound of the single gave most of it away. The obvious guess was Royal Enfield 350. Not being very familiar with the top-view difference between the Meteor, Hunter, and Classic, I couldn't go further. So it was a nice surprise that it was my personal favorite, the Meteor. Congratulations on your fine purchase, sir!

Such a great bike, the turning circle is superb. Only slight gripe for me is the suspension that's a bit lacking. I notched the springs up a couple of turns which has improved it. Supposedly it gets better with miles.

I was the same , but infact I much prefer it now...Its so much easier! The prices are crazy at the moment untill they run out of the old stock Fireball is 3.2k on the road Super nova is 3.5k on the road Honestly if you can and want to ,now is the time, they will be back up to 4.4k soon with the new colours coming in. Its a wonderful bike once you settle in to it.

Hi Mike, I have the Speed Twin 1200 on loan to me at the moment but the issue you will have is you will want to ride the meteor more than the 900 I bet you any money. A chap up the top of this message thread owns a Triple and says he uses the meteor much more

I've got the meteor 350,changed the rear shocks for the classic endurance gas shocks ,made a significant difference to the ride comfort. Cost me £61 a set

Congratulations ER. Some must have upgrades. #1 the Hunter shocks that you recommended to me. No more back jarring. #2 the gear change upgrade featured on Glyn Owen's channel. It totally transformed the gear change. #3 An Audicator like Peter LE has on his 2 Hunters. I'm sure you have suffered enough on the loan bike with the tiny indicator warning. (I still have to do that). Nothing you can complain about, you had an extraordinary long test ride. Wonderful bike. Enjoy.

Thanks Tim, Shocks are on order...So I'm really looking forward to getting that sorted. I can't find Glynns channel? but I have a linkage on order from ebay already I'm not sure who Peter LE is either tbh, but that light came on when I changed the exhaust back to the stock one, and even though I reset the ECU and ran it for 10 minutes, it was still there...I'll do the reset at some point or but a code canceller. ha, yes its was a straight through pipe and didnt come with any baffles, infact I might as well have taken it all off right up to the head! I'm well chuft with it and puts me right in a zen state when riding it for a while, cheap to run and very reliable.

Blimey should have bought mine premium blue one with screen backrest 1,000 miles stainless full exhaust stainless crash bar. Spot lights. Pannier,stainless rack, fuel x pro, re touring seat all original stuff. Went for £1800. Looks brand new

@@exeterrider…. I’m a bit of a mechanic (ok, agricultural from strimmers to Cat D9) so I’ll have a go rather than pay £800. And KZbin is there for inspiration. The BM has done 54k. Brother in law had an R850R and it was a great bike. He rode back from Switzerland in a day for an urgent meeting and found it supremely comfortable

Yes you have the skills, I'm not sure I do for a clutch change, but as you say KZbin is a big help. It kinda puts me off the bike knowing that I'll have to deal with that someone tbh. But I'll just deal with it when I have too👍

Ha ha! Congratulations Steve, wondered if you'd succumb after your glowing road test and report. I love em, I've just taken delivery of my new Aurora Green, this is my 3rd Meteor. Previously had the Supernova and before that the Stellar. I wouldn't rush out and buy an RE Screen, they create a lot of helmet buffeting, far more comfortable without one, many owners remove them - including me. You'll start to feel the benefits from the running in period anytime now and the engine will feel a lot freer from 1k+. Around the 2k mark You'll notice a difference again! Plenty of aftermarket stuff available for them ( which I'm sure you know). If you want a bit more mid range grunt for easier overtakes fit a DNA Stage 2 Air filter kit, a noticeable difference for around 90 quid. Enjoy your new Steed, you will.!🙂👍

Hey up mate! Yes I remember you bought a Meteor but didn't know you were on your 3rd!! That Auroua range does look nice but I haven't seen one in the flesh as yet...I kinda like the look of them, and really like the green and the black ones. Maybe I'll be tempted. I have heard of the stage 2...is ait a must have in you're opinion? more power the better I guess. But I'm not really sure what Im buying without doing more research. Good to hear from you mate

@@exeterrider The filter isn't a must but as you get used to the bike and it's capabilities you'll realise that overtakes require a little more planning although they are perfectly capable. The DNA filter kit gives a better midrange response so that the engine pick up is more responsive and overtakes are a lot easier. It's a straight plug and play 5 minute job and the ECU will relearn and reset itself without any software upgrades or diagnostic interventions. The only downside of this mod is that it increases induction roar, it doesn't bother me but some people find the added roar intrusive. I could rattle on all day about Meteors, love em!! I've also got the Classic 350 to keep it company in the shed.🙂👍

@exeterrider your enthusiasm and pride of ownership for this Meteor came over so well in the video. I've not ridden a Meteor but have ridden the classic, and that is a delightful bike. These J platform bikes took a leap upwards in quality compared to my 411 Himalayan, I've even been considering selling the 411 for a classic!

My brother had a RE Meteor back in the sixties. It was 700 cc. At the time I thought it was quick, now my Honda CB300R out performs it. I really do like the look of these and the Triumph's though. I think my next bike will be a Kawasaki Z500SE or a Honda CB500 Hornet. I prefer the look of the Kawasaki and it's lighter. So the may sway me.. If I could get one of these or a Triumph with the same performance and weight of my CB300R I would buy one tomorrow.

I.d seen the one with red frame and thought it was a little dull. But when I saw the green frame and chrome I had to have one. I'm really interested in adding a RE to my stable, originally I was looking at the Continental GT, then I saw they have the Shotgun out, and that just looks really comfortable> But I have to say I like the look of your Meteor 350 also, how does it pull 2 up?

Hi, Owning a RE is quite something and you get a huge amount for you're money! pulling 2 up is VERY good for a 350 with hardly any drop in power because it pulls amazingly well anyway. infact it handles 2 up better than any other 300/400 in its class. You will get 105mpg on the 350s, and £55 per year to tax. It's a game changer if you "get it" The GT is nice but the seat kills it for me tbh...the 350 range are all day comfy like no other....and Ive ridden a few in my time. Top of the range brand new on the road is 3.5k==========no brainer, can always sell it ....but you wont : )

Amazing bike, I have a fireball yellow with quite a few mods and love it. Did you bleed brakes and abs pump? Btw Regarding fuel, it will do 200 miles on a full tank then when you fill up, you will put 10 litres into it and have 5 litres left in for reserve giving you potential for another 100 miles or more depending on the usual economical circumstances. I fill up 10 litres every 200 miles. The tank holds 15 litres. Look forward to seeing some Meteor content when you get the chance. 👍

Yes I did, bleeding the brakes made a big difference! Thats really useful to know about the fuel situation Thanks....That day I was getting scared because the light was on when I got there and still had to get home! It's a great feeling filling up , and not having to worry about how much its costing you to ride...love it!

@@exeterriderI did 300 miles on a tankful and had about three litres left. 200+ miles is about where I normally start looking for fuel, about 350 km. That should never be a problem, unless you are doing 70 mph on the motorway. At those speeds the Meaty drinks about 30% more, so range is significantly reduced. It’s surprising to see just how much thirstier it gets over 60 mph. Because I‘m tight, I wouldn’t venture beyond 60, personally 🙂👍

@@exeterrider when I had my 22 plate meteor I had it come on maybe 5 or 6 times 'oil temperature to low' during winter, had eddy's in Tadcaster do it twice but then bought an obd2 reader from ebay and did it myself until they finally got the ecu flash to fix it 🤷🏻‍♂️

Bikes today should have hydraulic valve adjustment and belt drive. Belt drive lasts 100,000+ miles.

He damn near loses control of all bodily functions when he sees a carbon fibre mudguard, bless him 🤗 I suspect that Steve will be fabricating the heat shield himself, so unless he has an autoclave, I think it will probably now be steel painted black, which I personally think will look much better than stainless steel bling on that blacked out engine and exhaust 🙂
