Exhaust Contest...well, it entered, but wasn't there to be judged...a clear winner if it did!

RIP Neil. One note - that definitely not what an actual stockcar race engine that raced in NASCAR sounds like, because it is not one. But hey, it's good enough for most people at shows. Probably just some old 350 they put in there for shows and MUCH, MUCH cheaper!

What motor did gm use for there stock cars in the 80's
@PaulSter3 жыл бұрын
I think by the mid 80s, from what I've read, is basically junkyard small block (350s I expect), bored, and with material added to known weak spots in the blocks. Heads were aftermarket or custom. As were the internals. I always remember the way they would talk about Bill Elliott's shop back then having some kind of special secret to making hp and engines that held together. It was like "somewhere up the wooded Georgia mountains, Awesome Bill from Dawsonville was building incredible race motors." 🤠🇺🇸 Of course, nowadays, everyone but Toyota sources out their engines and have no stock parts, unless you consider some internals supplied by Chevy and Ford racing departments, stock. Toyota builds all their own engines and sends them to the teams.

we need to partition to ATLEAST get the 80's nascars back on the track. that thing is begging for it.
@skydive70543 жыл бұрын
@David Galea tru, but what i mean is to get old racers on the track with the next gens, they have the same top speed if not faster. if we cant bring back stuff from the 60's or 70's, at LEAST put the 80's cars like the monte carlo and the buick gnx on the track.

That's what historical racing is for, there were some Formula 1 historical races this weekend in Monte Carlo, several cars were even driven by real former F1 drivers who drove for those teams.

Clearly not a real NASCAR engine :|

Ballistic Plays I’m sure it did. But it’s still CLEARLY not a stock car engine. Doesn’t idle like one would have to. Doesn’t rev ANYWHERE NEAR what a stock car motor would have in those days. Sounds like a mild 355 Chevy or 350. Tiny cam. Idle turned up to make it sound a bit more like one. But still not a stock car motor in it. Looks great though.
@littledeel5 жыл бұрын
Ballistic Plays not even one person covering they’re ears. If it was a high compression or high rev small block with real boom tubes it would’ve surely made some people cover they’re ears.
