If you want your life to be the Sopranos everyday, cop this 2002 Cadillac Deville DTS bro. This quick review on the 2002 Cadillac Deville DTS has certainly enlightened my perspective on older cars but more importantly, older Cadillacs.

Ayyyy Paulie Walnuts, nope not quite. This is a 2002 Deville I filmed around July 4th which explains the flag but I just now got around to editing the vid. Also I think Paulie got himself a CTS later on in the series lol. This vehicle has since been sold but check out Cary Imports website as I will be going there often. Thank you for watching

Ironically enough I’m rewatching The Sopranos right now. Paulie never had one of these Devilles. He had a 94 in the first season, then a 96 or 97 Seville, then an Eldorado (which was for sale a few years ago!), and finally the 2003 CTS. The Sopranos is one of my favorite shows and the cars are just the cherry on top. Furio’s DTS had night vision too.

Cadillac should make a car like this again. It would be a budget Mercedes S-Class without trying to be German, unlike the current and soon to be discontinued CT6.

I miss my 2002 DTS. I loved the massaging front seats(press the up button on the lumbar support quickly), helped my back after a long day of work. I like my 6MT 2020 Civic, but the Cadillac had such a nice ride.

I bought a 2001 Deville 6 years ago for $375. It had a bad transmission and I had to pay a shop $2,850 to fix it. The water pump belt broke and it over heated a little bit. After replacing the belt, I notice the radiator was cracked and losing water. After installing a new radiator. It kelp pumping out the coolant until a shop claimed they replace the water pump. It ran for a while and started pumping out the coolant again. It would not pass emission back in April because the head gasket was blown. No shop in Atlanta will work on the Northstar so I'm replacing the head gasket myself. I have a few videos on my channel of me doing the work. I removed the engine to fix some oil leaks and realized the engine need a full rebuild @ 166k miles. People say the car is not worth the money I'm spending fixing it but that's not true. I added up money from 25 of my Deville videos and I have made $3,500. People love to see me work on this car.

I had one of these back in 2006, thought it was super nice because it was a Caddy. Now I have a Lexus LS 460, and I know what true luxury is. Every compartment opens slow and smooth, same with the lights, and riding in it is so quiet it's like being in a sensory deprivation chamber. Combine that with crazy reliability and the AWD for winter, I'm never driving anything else. But yeah, good review man, I enjoy the format of "everyman" type cars you present, and your presentation is on point.

The Deville wasn't even a competitor to the LS430, the big Caddy was competing with the likes of the Lexus GS and Infiniti Q45. Cadillac hasn't had a true flagship sedan in decades, and the Deville has never been the flagship Caddy. Unfair comparison.

Okay, I have to be real with everyone for a second. My fiance used to own one of these -- an 02 to be precise. He bought it from his grandpa at 80,000 miles in 2015. Less than one year into ownership all 4 window regulators failed at $550 a piece, or $2200 total. Over the next few years and 20,000 miles the driver's heated seat would fail, the power steering rack began leaking profusely, the drainage paths for the sunroof would clog regularly and cause water to leak into the headliner and dome light assembly, the tires stopped holding air due to the chrome plating on the OEM rims flaking off, the HVAC blower motor would only work if it was kicked first, the hood struts failed (from being used so often), and the engine would burn at least 1 quart of oil every thousand miles despite running on Royal Purple its entire life and being driven by a 70+ year old man quite literally to church and back. This was the biggest garbage heap to ever fall into our lives and we are exceptionally happy that it is gone. Also, good handling? This thing is a barge with a yacht-like turning circle, wallowy suspension, and a chassis as rigid as the average paper towel. Just for good measure I'll add that the seats are only comfortable if your spine looks like an ampersand and the constant fear of blowing a head gasket is emotionally scarring.

There's always some cars that have issues and others don't. I bought a 2000 Deville with 118 kilometers on it, had oil leaks on the oil pan. Engine had to come out to fix it. It runs great now and it's a blast to drive, nice exhaust note as well. Fortunately I did all the work myself, other wise would a been a huge expense. I like the review as I agree your spot on.

Agree with everything you said this is a car you buy to take on as a project and do the work yourself. I found that out after I started to send it out to some AH mechanic shops!!! That pushed me over the edge and decided to do all the work on it now myself!!! On the plus side I am learning a lot as a senior citizen. LET'S GO BRANDON 😷 😷 😷 😷 😷 😷

Probably one of the last good American land barges, or at least as close as you would get to a land barge in 2005 without purchasing an SUV or one of the “Jimbo Jones” Pickups.

The DHS and base both have the softer suspension. The DTS came with the "touring" suspension which was much stiffer with less body roll. I have owned two with the base suspension and they are just soo smooth. They hover over bumps. These cars are very unloved, partially because of the head bolt issues in the early years. It drives like a 50,000 dollar car with the interior out of an old kia. If you get an 04 or 05, the head bolt issues were resolved. They are very reliable, however, that cheap interior will start to deteriorate, particularly in dryer climates.

I had that exact same car, color and everything for 9 years. I enjoyed the heck out of it despite all of its mechanical issues. We actually had 4 DTSs before all was said and done.

I miss mine sometimes. I had 2, and a Seville STS of the same era. My 2002 and my 2001 DTS had night vision, but my 2002 also had navigation and adaptive massage seats. They’re great cars and will last forever when taken care of. Super comfortable, interior is creaky but it’s nice for what it is. Bose sound system is A+. Navigation is touch screen. Authentic Zebrano wood in DHS & DTS. Seats have multiple adjustments. Everything is comfortable and easy to use. They’re amazing cars. I now have a CTS wagon and an STSV, but I still miss the good old Deville DTS sometimes.

Exhaust Sports Auto I’m also so glad you touched on the door handles. I actually constantly, oddly, got compliments on the door handles as well whenever my friends were in my car. My 2002 was my first car in high school, my 01 was meant to be but it was better suited for parts, and the 02 was white which was my preference over this light bronzemist, which is featured here. I was the same as you, I’ve loved these since they came out when I was young.

Not sure about the rear seats folding, but still pretty interesting nonetheless. They designed this back in the late-1990s when GM still had some money. What's really interesting is the 2006 refresh, known as the DTS, where they just kept the same roofline and sharpened up the exterior & interior a bit before calling it a whole new model. I still vastly prefer the 2006+ DTS to the early-2000s Devilles, but it's good to know where it all came from.
