Exhibition film: Turner. Three Horizons

Joseph Mallord William Turner has long been hailed as a revolutionary who helped pave the way for modernism. Colour attained a hitherto unseen freedom in his pictures. In our large exhibition, you can expect bright paintings, watercolors captured in wind and weather and precise pencil sketches. In the video, curators Karin Althaus and Nicholas Maniu and our director Matthias Mühling give you an insight into the exhibition. You will learn about Turner's painting style, the creation of his pictures and why his works still seem so modern to us after 200 years.
