In 1976, we went up to Canada on a family vacation and went to Toronto to the hockey hall-of-fame, which at that time was right by Exhibition Stadium. That was the year before the Blue Jays started play, and we saw them doing construction work on the stadium getting it ready for the Blue Jays. But I never saw a game there. Funny that in 76 everybody who went to Canada went to Montreal for the olympics, but we went to Toronto to see an empty stadium.

I was there the day they won the American League East in '85 only to see them lose in game 7 to the Royals a few weeks later.

I was at the game the night before. The place was electric. We went down early to get a seat in the left field side of the grandstand. A of people beat us and we wound up around section 20, the middle, half way up. Lloyd Moseby booted one and the Jay's lost, too bad but still a memorable night/weekend.

I loved taking the Bloor-Danforth train to Spadina, followed by the long streetcar ride southward on Bathurst to the CNE. I loved being able to get into the old Grandstand section with my $1.00 Dominion Grocery Stores tickets, AND...I especially loved watching the fans behind home plate and along the baselines scurry like mice when it rained while enjoying the comfort of that big 'ol roof. MISTAKE MY ASS! The Ex is as close to perfect as it gets for a Baseball fan.
@thomastherriault61997 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the roof was the best thing about it, especially for concerts and late fall Argo games.

Was before my time to watch Jays games at Exhibition Stadium but I did see a WWF wrestling show there in 1996. Wasn't the best venue but it had personality. I'm glad I got to enjoy it at least once.

Yeah, the '85 season. That's the year I turned 12 and I'll never forget when the Jays were playing against the Royals in the playoffs. It was the first time in my life that I got to experience a possible championship for my city. And also my first experience at losing a playoff series, which was devastating. But I'll never forget when me, my friends, and our families, as all of Toronto was doing, gathered together to watch it on TV. RIP Exhibition Stadium; I still miss the Mistake by the Lake

I think it's called "Sky High" and it was a season in review of 1989 for the Blue Jays. That definitely sounds like Tom Cheek on the narration.

Nothing amazing about that stadium. The location was fun because of the waterfront and the CNE, but we're talking about a couple of basic grand stands. Nothing special in design or layout.
