Let us explore the Grenada Grenadines with me. We take a boat ride from Low Town, Sauteurs, St. Patrick, Grenada to Diamond Rock. About four (4) miles off the northwestern coast of Grenada lies an island that is inhabited by birds and wild goats, (seriously wild goats). The goats were so illusive that we heard them and saw their poop but never once caught sight of them.
The group of fifteen (15) adventurers took two small boats, a metal pole, and sailed across the mainly calm seas. Kick 'em Jenny, Grenada's underwater volcano was cooperative for this trip. Upon landing on Diamond Rock we disembarked the boats in waist high water since the area is very rocky thus preventing the boats from docking closer. This just added to the adventure.
After a quick change of clothing, we started the trek up with the metal pole in hand, enjoying brilliant views of mainland Grenada, Isle de Rhonde and other Grenadine islands. We were greeted by nesting booby birds with young ones and some with eggs, (no we did not trouble them), cactus and devil's nettle. Fortunately, no one was injured by the devil's nettle which I heard causes a puss if it get's in one's flesh.
At the peak we prepared and hoisted a Grenadian flag and sang the national anthem. We then did the reverse trek on foot and via boat back to Sauteurs. An amazing adventure it was, Diamond Rock, Grenada.
