@@serpentheadedmask9 youre right, man. he does kinda sound like dukes here, and thats not the exhorder sound that made them my favorite band. kyle has taken great care of his voice over the years compared to anselmo, for example. i thought new exhorder was gunna sound as raw as ever, but its pretty polished up. this sounds like new testament to me with rob dukes on vocals.

Not for nothing y’all, but we’ve NEVER heard an Exhorder album with complete and full support from their management/label nor with them having had the time or choice (really) of studios/producers. Obviously there’s gonna be some comparison to Exodus, but they’re both thrash bands, FFS-and no disrespect to Rob Dukes, but I bet he wishes he could hold his own with Kyle Thomas. Also, this song is an opening salvo-a statement of intent, if you will. They’re just clearing their throats before the real storm begins.

@@fjmization again, exhorder is my favorite band. compare this to "i am the cross." its just not there, man. i dont think there will be anything that feels like "i am the cross," "the truth," "the law," "legions of death," "the tragic period." exhorder always felt different than every metal band ive ever listened to, including pantera. this feels like any thrash band couldve made it. and no one is saying rob dukes is as good as kyle thomas. but this doesnt sound like the kyle thomas of old. he sounds good here, but not exhorder good. he did an amazing version of "bury me in smoke" with kirk windstein not too long ago. i know he can still sing. its just...... i wish he sounded like he did in 1992.

Exodus and Exhorder are both thrash bands. Exodus were influenced by groove metal in their more modern day incarnations, Exhorder were the original band to bridge the gap between Trash and Groove (well they basically "invented" groove metal, but early groove was still very thrash some of the time)
