This was one where I think it's really helpful to have a partner solving the calendar along with you. My fam also got stuck on a counting approach similar to what you did at first, but then I recalled that it said something about not counting. As soon as I said that out loud, we all saw the correct approach. Bravo to you for solving this alone every year! It's very impressive how you always manage to generate alternate approaches to a puzzle all on your own!

Oh how I was screaming at my phone with this one (I could see you were heading the wrong way). It's so easy to fall down a rabbit hole, and once you start counting, it's hard to stop (particularly when not only are you solving the puzzle, but dealing with the technical side of the recording as well). Loving this video series by the way.

The moment you started talking about counting things, I cried out, "No count! Book say no count!" 😀 My "rabbit hole" was thinking that maybe RIGHT also meant "correct", and I was meant to create a code using its sequence. That, of course, didn't work out. This puzzle was exactly the right amount of frustrating for me. I tend to have a very low frustration tolerance, but this was just right!

Oh yes, this one got me.

I figured this out pretty quickly myself. This was a classic cypher puzzle. Having done many hunt a killer mysteries, I am no stranger to this type of puzzle. When I saw the length of the video, I knew you were going to make the counting mistake. Great job on the videos so far. My only criticism is that Laura isn’t solving them with you. Small price to pay though.

I also overcomplicated it solution. But I really do love the euphoric feeling when you have been struggling and then all of a sudden everything aligns.

I struggled with this one and interpreted it completely wrong and had to use the hints and a bit of the solution. Hopefully day 9 won't confuse me as much 😂

I was yelling the answer at the screen for awhile on this one, but without remembering the information from the day's story instructions, the solution would be quite ambiguous. I had a fun time solving this with the video though. -Barnaby

It's amazing how our brains can overcomplicate things. Or completely ignore others, like the bold "you won't be counting" text in the story 😂 Also , I don't know if you've heard of Box One, but I've been playing that recently and it might make a good video- it's a mix of trivia, puzzles and an escape room!

I notice I frequently forget the intro text for puzzles after I’ve read it. I think it is a function of making the videos, since I don’t do it otherwise! And Box One I have on the shelf behind me but haven’t tried yet. There’s now a Box Two as well, but it has had poor reviews in terms of being lacking from a puzzle perspective - but that’s not out in the UK yet. Anyway, I would definitely like to tackle Box One at some point.

Sorry, I had that the moment you showed us the room... Initially, when we saw the picture of the cat (back of page) I thought maybe it's showing us how to orient the box and directing us to look at the side of the box (because the text says to understand what the signs mean, and that we do NOT just count). But then, when we found the weirdly-shaped arrow in the room it was clear. It has the exact shape as the one in the cat picture, there's even a crooked little side on the left bottom. But I notice that in every day that you "struggled" a bit (not really struggled, but for a lack of a better word), it was because you were completely ignoring the bold text. I think it's because you are trying to read the story fast, in order to keep the video time short. But let me say, you don't need to stress about this; we are here because we are enjoying watching your videos, and we do have a forward button, too, if we want to read the page for ourselves and skip the narration (though you do read well, I have to say)! If you are still too concerned about that, maybe add 2-3 timestamps (is that what they are called?) where you have something like Today's page; Thoughts; Room view. Oh, and btw, thanks for showing us clear views of the box today!

Fun one today, noted that the two of the signs looked like the ones on the photo on the backof the calendar text, but the blue one i missed at the beginning so was just sitting around waiting for you to show the "pen" again to see if there was a sign there too. That the clubs was substitutes for letters so that you could spell a word i didn't catch onto before you said that the letters matched the total amount of symbols on the signs, it sounded like you caught on to it too and then totally forgot it straight away because you got distracted 😂. Plus you pointed out when you read the text that "counting wasn't enough " was in bold 😅 I like the ones that's a little harder it means we get a longer video of you to enjoy 😊

Oh I did something similar to you on this day's puzzle. I tried to use logic to work out the values of the clubs and sent me down the proverbial rabbit hole haha
@blankiecat9302Ай бұрын
As soon as I saw the marker with the right arrow I understand stand we are matching symbols to letters. But I was quite fun seeing you over complicated it.

It was very easy for me, maybe this time not thinking in English helped me (I'm Spanish), I clearly saw the images of the addresses and quickly saw that they had the same number of characters. I really liked seeing you suffer solving it and the look on your face between satisfaction and "how slow I was" when you solved it. Thanks

What would be the fun of watching you solve another advent calendar if you simply presented the solution? Great viewing - and I even like the plugs!

Liked this one a lot as well! I realized the sign pointing left didn’t say RIGHT, it said R I G H T, and that led me to connecting each letter with a symbol and disregarding the actual meanings of the words. This was good in both respects, quality and challenge!
@RoderickEtheriaАй бұрын
You absolutely ignored the bolded words. When words are written in bold, they are written that way for a reason.
