This is the scene that escalated Xenoblade 2 from a good game to a great game for me. Everything about it is masterfully put together. The music, the choreography, the foreshadowing, the tension, the death of Vandham and the awakening of Mythra. Easily my favorite scene from the entire game. This scene to me is similar to Prison Island from Xenoblade 1, in terms of importance to the plot.
@thekeyandthegate40936 жыл бұрын
Kyle Davis I agree with that sentiment. This scene was wonderful and I think it's among the best this game has to offer. Though, I think that if only they gave the VA for Rex some better direction in regards to his yelling and screaming, it would've made this scene Mechon attacking colony 9 tier good.
@evanatorextreme10656 жыл бұрын
That Last Part about Prison Island is true to me as well. Think about it.(I’ll keep this as literal spoiler free as possible.) Both main protagonists had to suffer a major loss. Regardless of either a lesser or more personal connection to the protagonist,a major loss,and then an awakening. The exact same sorta thing. Even Malos and “Black” Face are the same in role as first main antagonist.

It’s brief, but right before he dies, you can hear Vandham’s voice getting shaky. As valiant/brave a person he may have been, he didn’t want to die. He didn’t want to leave Yew, Zuo, and everyone in Garfont behind. He wanted to live, and see where his friends headed in life. Vandham’s voice actor did a perfect job here, the best (and probably saddest) cutscene I’ve seen in a video game, with the perfect song to accompany it.

Sure this boss took me some time to figure out,but when I saw this cutscene,no tear was shed,but I was both shocked and sad. I wanted to cry,but my eyes were dry,with pure righteous fury. But,one thing fueled my adrenaline more than anything. The fact that by a trailer I saw,I theorized that the event of Mythra’s Awakening was in this spot,at this specific time. Vandham truly was one of the unsung heroes of this story. Akhos’ lack of remorse,Malos’ malice(no pun intended),and the fact that I called something,defined this moment as something else. This was when my hype turned to love. For me,this was when this game’s story turned from Great,to Outstanding. There truly are no words.

He tells Raiden that he should fight his own war. Don't let legal BS stop you, and if it costs a few lives, so be it. And then I remembered this. This cutscene. Vandham, in his last moments, imparts some of the greatest wisdom of life upon Rex. "Remember to fight your war!" If there's one thing games have taught me, it's this. This message here. I want to take it to heart, and I think everyone else should, too. Fight your war. Struggle through, suffer for a time, but in the end, you'll make it out into a happier world. It's lack of directing. Adam (Shulk's VA) had a bunch of prop. A better director and the scene in Japanese to go off of. Plus, surely you seen other scenes from not this game but also Future Connected. Future Connected starts off rough with Melia's "Alright, I'm on my way". It wasn't because Jenna was a poor actress, it is because it's been close to 10 years AND the director for FC is from this game. Plus... Have you seen that cutscene when Shulk and Rex met each other? Adam severely screwed up one of the lines. This isn't me putting down Jenna Coleman and Adam Howden, this is me putting up the obvious fact that instead of blaming the actors you should go after the director.
