That open JC Penney area looks like a pain in the ass for security to check at the end of each business day, but by the looks of that mall they probably don't have security.

The company that owns this mall probably pays the manager of the florist or casino a few bucks to unlock/lock the door. Their lineup of properties seem to be mostly rural and run down old strip malls. They probably have someone that maybe visits each property in the portfolio randomly for the purpose of code check ups and visits to the town tax offices when necessary. I can’t believe the town or county health department hasn’t required the rotting JCPenney to be walled off or demolished. This place is basically Signal Hill 2

The Casino Is actually a sweepstakes and they have been shut down . All sweepstakes were shut down. Only thing they care about is protecting the sweepstakes games which are currently illegal!!!

Such a shame people who manage these properties let things get that bad. Guess they really don’t care since that mall looks like the ghost has already been given up.

Hey, Sal. I hope you enjoyed your time in NC. I live in westernmost part. If you’re ever that way or in east TN, I recommend the Bradley Square Mall in Cleveland, TN. It’s about an hour away from me but it’s an interesting one. It opened in like the early 90’s. I’m not sure exactly when it started dying but I believe like the mid to late 2000’s was when I remember stores starting to close. They used to have a K-Mart, Deb, and a handful of other stores that are no longer there. Sometime in the mid 2010’s, there was a revitalization effort going on and the mall seemed to pick up again for a bit but now it seems to be on the outs once more. A bit sad since it’s not a very old mall and was one of the closer malls to me where I’d go for “civilization” as I call it, since my town is only about 1,000 people lol

Glad you're family is doing well after the health scare Sal. I have seen Pennrose Mall from a couple of Ace's videos on the place looks like a very small mall. I have done 4 malls in a day the only time I did that was 24 years ago at the end of Aug Somerset in Detroit, Briarwood Mall Ann Arbor, Lakeview Square Mall BC when it was doing quite well now a very dead mall with few stores in it, The Crossroads Mall in my hometown Kazoo. My youngest cousin was trying to find something but didn't find it even went across the street to Toys 'R' US now a Big Lots I didn't go into Toys 'R' US my feet were barking at that point just wanted to sit and not walk anymore LOL.

Tuned in to a replay. I hear Sal and heard a nasty high-pitched noise/alarm too. Is that an alarm in the building? 15:40 That's a dressing room men rarely saw; that was fom a Penney's bridal salon. I don't remember a store having one, back when so that really must go back a ways, but they sold gowns right into the 90s. 27:28 There was the goshawful noise again. Sounded like the mold smelled.

This mall is of course another moldy unsafe (both structure and air quality) Signal Hill but holding on longer with a few more tenants. It’s pretty cool seeing how Roses has such a strong customer base. I was at an abandoned adult theater mall in a bad area of Charlotte last week but the roses was busy! Also the Roses in North Charleston and Orangeburg are always busy! Good for them.🎉

Sal… I mentioned to Anthony on his last Pennrose walk through that the owner of this property has their portfolio of retail properties listed online. Some of their other properties are old rotting strip malls in similar condition. Those might be good as filler clips if you start telling the story of this possibly “mini moonbeam” 😂😂😂

Sal, my friend, PLEASE take ur health seriously... Carry your face-covering or a decent respirator on you at all times when entering these buildings... Carry a backpack or something with things to help keep you healthy, cuz if you get too sick [or, Gawd forbid, DIE] from an airborne ailment, who's gonna post vids of these places? Sure there's other ppl posting dead mall stuff, but we're all here to see you cuz we dig ur style of content, and w/o Sal, they're jus not the same. Take care of yourself, Sal, cuz we care. 😷 😬 😉👍
