Thank you so much, Howard! We missed you too. I hope I will be able to upload a little more now. We are mostly doing well but mum has broken her arm pretty badly at the moment so she is currently recovering - three weeks into a ~12 month recovery. Hoping she gets back to 100%! Hope you are keeping well and so nice to hear from you!

I can't believe you missed out Tarr Steps, Dunster Castle, The Doone Valley, and pretty much the whole of the actual moorland of Exmoor. And Ilfracombe (which is a very nice place) isn't on Exmoor.

Hey Graham, thanks for stopping by! We wanted to get a nice mix of beaches / villages / walking and various other activities on this trip but would definitely like to get back to see more of the moorland. Do you have any other recommendations?

@@LozsLeisure thanks for replying. My reccomendations for 10 places to visit on Exmoor would be: 1. The Dunkery & Horner Woods Nature Reserve. This includes Dunkery Beacon (the highest point in Somerset) and, according to the National Trust, "one of the largest and most beautiful ancient oak woods in Britain". 2. Dunster. A popular medieval village with castle & yarn market. Plenty of great tea rooms. Dunster is a great starting place for many country walks; including acoss Gallox Bridge & up the hill to Bats Castle; up Grabbist Hill; along the Avill Valley; or out to Dunster Beach. 3. Malmesmead & Oare & the Doone Valley. Made famous by R D Blackmore's novel Lorna Doone. 4. Lynton & Lynmouth. Lynton & Lynmouth is worth a visit on it's own; but is also the starting point for many excellent walks. These include the Valley of Rocks, Watersmeet & the Exmoor coast to the east or west. 5. Simonsbath. One of the best walks on Exmoor is from Simonsbath, through the Barle valley, past the Wheal Eliza Mine to Cow Castle. 6. Tarr Steps. An ancient clapper bridge, set in the Barle valley near Dulverton. 7. Winsford. A delightful village famous for it's bridge. Nearby, on the top of Winsford Hill is the famous Caratacus Stone. 8. The Chains. You get a real sense of remoteness on top of The Chains. Be sure to visit Pinkery Pond & the Longstone. 9. The Heddon Valley. A beautiful walk along the river from the Hunter's Inn takes you to Heddon's Mouth; which is one of the most beautiful parts of the Exmoor Coast. 10. Woody Bay. Another great part of the coast between Heddon's Mouth & the Valley of Rocks. 11. North Hill. This includes some of the places you visited, such as Selworthy, Bury Castle & Selwothy Beacon. The hill extends from Bossington to Minehead, and has some great views (as you mentioned). I hope this helps. Enjoy. .
