I still choke up everytime I hear this magnificent piece of art. Baekhyun actually got emotional because when he turned around he saw Xiumin who was about to go into his military service. First member to do so and it was last performance together for a while. Also, it proves they sing live. I just love it.

@@Killdeer25 Xiumin is oldest but they can be called to serve at any time from age 18. They are allowed a certain number of deferments until they can't put it off any longer. D.O. was the second to go, just a few months after Xiumin, before Suho, Baekhyun, Chen and Chanyeol who are all older. I think he never deferred his first draft and just decided to get it over with.

It's almost rare to see Baekhyun get emotional when singing but the lyrics to the song got to him since it was gonna be the last stage with Xiumin since he was about to serve the military. It was true & genuine emotions so no not planned. Still gets me 🥺

Aw, one of the prettiest songs. This one cemented two things for me. First that Baekhyun was my bias. I already loved his voice and his hyperactive, puppy side but when I got to know serious Baekhyun, he became my ultimate bias. Second, this is the song where I realized Xiumin can really sing. As we've been talking about all week. He did this so beautifully.

Gets me every time. To see our mischievous Baekhyun cry.... Intolerable! 😭 I think he's the most emotional singer I've ever seen (all in EXO are, but Baek's next level at conveying emotions with his singing), but hereit was his true emotions, not just because of the song.

@@Killdeer25 EXO are real brothers to each other (although they have their siblings 😉), but these boys went through hoops together, the experience they endured together, for more than a decade, made them a true family. And as Xiumin was the first to enlist into the army, everyone was nervous and afraid (Kai stopped filming his show in London and flew across the globe just to see Xiumin off!!!). A lot of groups don't survive the period of the military service, as it's hard to keep a group relevant and keep the fans, so they were taking a step into the unknown. Also, there's always this notorious "neighbor" because of who South Korea makes all its men go to the army and get ready for a possible conflict. So when each of them enlists, I always pray nothing serious happens in the world for our boys to have to risk their lives. So, I'm glad that Kai now serves as a social worker after a few weeks at the training camp, not on active duty, it's much safer and lighter physically (btw, could you tell, watching him, that most of his career he danced through pain in his back or legs? His spine and ankles are totally screwed up, but this Main Dancer never showed it during the performance, but collapsed after... 😢🤧).

This was their last concert before Xiumin had to enlist. So when it came to the lyric "You're not alone" Baekhyun felt emotional as this was the first time a member will be away from the group for some time.

This was definitely an 'in the moment'. I have never heard this song without feeling it deeply, both on a goosebump level and an emotional one. Baekhyun is usually labelled as the clown of the group, but he is also deeply affectionate and loyal, he's very intelligent and generally aware of those around him. When he sings, he feels it. At this moment, the lyrics took on a painful reality for him and he broke down. For EXO-L, this performance is special not just for a beautiful song sung incredibly well, but also because it reminds us that they are just young men who care deeply and are just as vulnerable as the rest of us. Nope not planned as they all have told you down below also they are singing in Japanese which is obviously not their own language so for Baekhyun to be able to portray his true emotions just as he turned and saw Xiumin is amazing and pure.

I’m so cynical I’d probably tell your kids about Santa Claus, so I asked myself the same ‘was that planned’ question. Xiumin was about to enlist, and as the oldest, he was the first domino. All told, except for this mini break, they wouldn’t be a whole group from 2019-2025. For idols who are able to stay in the game long enough to get to that point, military service marks a ‘before’ and ‘after’ in their careers, and not everyone comes through unscathed. Also, these guys spent their early years, living, eating, sleeping, practicing, and being shuttled from one obligation to the next together literally every day. All that plus having one of your group be gone for 18 months probably felt like the start of a paradigm shift. So I give it the benefit of the doubt 😊

@@Killdeer25 A lot of Korean men get it over with straight out of high school or university but because idols train, debut and are basically at their peak during their 20's they tend to defer as many times as they are allowed. They can get the draft letter at any time or choose to enlist before they are called. I believe they must have completed their tour or be serving by age 30.
