From some interviews, Baekhyun said it takes them about three days to learn a whole choreo. But to actually make it as sharp and pretty as the final product that we see, plus with the vocals… obviously it will take longer. I think it definitely helps that they lived together in dorms as trainees for years prior to debuting, which is what makes Exo/kpop actually very eifferent from other western pop acts. I think Kpop groups are very similar to elite sports teams in that regard - they’re like athletes that spend years living together in dorms and training camps and doing nothing but practice. So I’m guessing it’s easier for Exo to nail a complicated choreography (Baekhyun said he always wants to be done practicing after 4 or 5 hours, and often complains that Kai will go well into 8-10 hours of dance practice 😮) vs a regular dance crew that has limited time spent together… You can check out the Exo’s Dance Practice Behind the Scenes Cream Soda Dance and Hear Me Out - great video where you can see them from initial stages of learning the steps all the way to shooting the final dance practice video wearing the baseball jerseys. The choreography for EXO's "Electric Kiss" is one of the most complex dances in the industry. There are more than 30 unique transitions in this dance and they are constantly moving. No one is in the same position twice in the dance. "Electric Kiss" is one of EXO's Japanese tracks which came out in 2018, so that explains why when you watch the MV you will see it's short compared to most MVs. Japanese MVs are traditionally shorter abridged versions of the song. My theory is that it's a marketing tactic. Japanese producers want to make sure that fans are purchasing the song and album, so they make the MV short so you hear just enough of the song that you want to hear more which forces you to have to buy the song if you want to hear the full version. Japanese songs and albums from Kpop artists are produced and marketed by Japanese companies, so that is why they have different/more strict copyrights. Often, the only way you can hear the full version of the song for free is if you watch a dance practice video, or you see a performance from one of their Japanese concerts. Plus, most of the time Japanese songs are not promoted outside of Japan, so the promotions for those songs are way different.

EXO dance practices also have a lot of views because SM hardly gives exols content, so when we do get it, we go a little crazy. SM also sometimes deletes exo dance practices, so we either we all have to watch it on time and download or hope they keep it up. 💀
