Overdose was the song that brought me into Kpop and to EXO. I've been a fan of them since first time hearing that "Come in, warning! Warning! Warning!" And ive been with them since this. The hold this song has on me 😂 it was 2014, nothing previously released by anyone else got me that shook. The vocals, the instrumentals, the choreo (i used to dance and choreo has always been a pet peeve of mine when it comes to songs 😅), everything slapped me straight in the face and i sold my soul to them 😂

Amazing vocals and fabulous performance are what link EXO songs. They play with genres with ease and have such outstanding vocals, they are difficult to cover. In Asia, their songs are iconic and instantly recognisable. and within the industry, EXO are highly regarded and respected. Lots of soloists and groups try to cover them, but unless you change the song song up, it just sounds less than the original. Siyeon did this brilliant cover in a girl group survival competition called V1. Unsurprisingly, she won.

EXO started as a 12 member boy group with exo-k(korean) and exo-m(mandarin/chinese). The members in exo-k were all korean and exo-m had 4 Chinese members and 2 korean. EXO debuted back in April 2012, 3 Chinese members left the group during 2014/2015. Ever since they were only 9. That's why ur might see different amount of them in their old mvs. Also in the recent mvs like for example obsession u might see less ppl on the mv than 9 that's bc korean men needs to enlist in the military so u might see different amount of them starting from 2019 mv's. In the exist comeback u saw 8 of them at least although one of them recently enlisted so he couldn't participate in the main tt mv but he was In let me in and hear me out. The only Chinese member who left in the group as a 9th member is a successful big solo artist in China as well. Starting from.2017 mvs u might not see him in the mvs of exos due to the fact that Lay is a youth ambassador for China and due to the conflict at that time between two countries he couldn't participate with exo in the comebacks. Nowadays it got better so he was in the mv of don't fight the feeling although it wasn't an actual comeback but a gift for the fans for their 10th anniversary as well(and bc of covid and all he was only added to the mv through cgi. But he is in all the b- sides of the album. The logos the hexagon is pretty much exos logo but they r kinda getting changed more creatively throughout all the comebacks. It's fascinating to see

In EXO's "Overdose" MV what you saw is that the members have been trapped in a maze by the Red Force and they are trying to use their superpowers to escape the maze. For example, in the Korean version you see Chen throw a beam of light, which is an example of them using their powers. Chen has the power to control lightning so he tossed a lightning bolt to Lay who has the power of healing. Lay is the only one who could have caught that light beam without being injured because Lay has the power of healing and he can heal himself. So, the story in the MV is pretty much the members trying to summon their powers to try and escape from the maze.The box that D.O. had at the beginning of the MV was full of dirt. D.O.'s superpower is force, which is summoned by the manipulation of earth or dirt, and it gives him super strength, so he was using the sand to build his strength back up. The other members were also trying to use their powers of teleportation, fire, light, etc. In the beginning when you see the EXO-K members making that picture while standing on each other, they are forming their hexagon symbol, which is EXO's official symbol. (In the Mandarin version, you will notice it's different members.) The different sets you see, are thought to be different rooms within the maze, or maybe alternate realities or time periods created by the Red Force to lure the EXO members to them. Also something to note, you see Kai in the beginning and end of the MV in the Korean version because he is the center and visual of EXO-K. However, in the Mandarin version you will see Luhan fills that same role because he is the center and visual of EXO-M. Plus, Kai and Luhan were each others' power counterparts as well. So this establishes the connection between EXO-K and EXO-M. Kai and Luhan were supposed to have a bond that connected the two groups and made them one as part of EXO's storyline. How EXO worked back when they were split up into the two groups was that all 12 members were in both MVs, but the 6 K members were featured more prominently in the K version of the song and the 6 M members were featured in the M version. As you saw, in the EXO-K version of "Overdose" the K members sing the main parts of the song and they are the first group of 6 you see. (When you see them revisit the same sets in the MV the group you see is the 6 EXO-M members.) If you watch the Mandarin version, you will see the M members take over the main parts of the song and the K members are the ones you see second. So, even when the MVs look the same, they will always be slightly different because the members are assigned different parts in each MV. For example, in the Korean version, the EXO-K rappers (Chanyeol and Sehun) are the ones that are part of the rap section. If you watch the Mandarin version, you will see Kris, Xiumin and Tao are the rappers because they are EXO-M's rappers. Tao is also the martial artist of the group, so he is the one that does the flips and stunts in EXO's routines. And the main vocal parts and high notes are done by Baekhyun in the Korean version, but in the Mandarin version that part is Chen's because he is EXO-M's main vocalist, etc. At the end of the MV we discover that the maze has only one way in and no way out. Which I think is meant to represent and mirror the fact that they are saying they are trapped by love and once you are in there is no way out. The maze was also EXO's logo for this album and it is shaped like EXO's hexagon symbol. Although, in the song they're not overdosing on anything except love. As the English lines in the song say: "So bad, no one can stop her ... her love, her love (is) fantasy ... Oh she wants me, Oh she's got me ... Oh she hurts me ... someone call the doctor ... (her love makes me) overdose ... too much of your love makes me overdose ... too much overdose ... You're in my heart ... with you I can't stop", etc. This song is kind of a love song about how powerful love can be that it feels like no matter how much you try to resist it you keep getting pulled back in like a drug. However, for the storyline in the MV there might be a little more at play than just being drugged by love. Some theories say that the story in "Overdose" is connected to the story in their "Lucky One" MV. In "Overdose" the members get trapped in the maze and they can't find their way out. The red light represents the Red Force who have trapped them in the maze. It is thought that the maze causes the members to get disoriented and sort of become incapacitated so they are unable to defend themselves. The maze dulls their senses and makes it so they lose the ability to use their powers at full strength, etc. The theory speculates that sometime after the end of the "Overdose" MV, EXO gets captured or transferred from the maze -- or possibly moved to another room within the maze -- and brought to the government facility by the Red Force. That is why we see them in a hospital-like setting in their "Lucky One" MV. In the story in the "Lucky One" MV the members are drugged by the Red Force and they are being experimented on to discover what makes them so special. So the maze is thought to be created by the Red Force in order to gain control of the EXO members. As you can see, their "Overdose" MV establishes the fact that EXO are trapped in a maze, which is why we believe that several of EXO's other MVs are also showing them trapped in the maze and trying to figure out how to escape, etc. This storyline doesn't end here, it continues in several of their other MVs. As you are discovering, all of the stories in EXO's MVs are connected. We just have to pay close attention to every detail and put the pieces together. "Overdose" came out in 2014 and this is one of the last MVs where all 12 members are part of the song and MV. (Kris left the group right after this MV was released and Luhan will leave within the next 6 months.) You should watch the Mandarin versions of "Overdose," as well. :D If you watch EXO-M's version of "Overdose" you will understand why we say even though they may seem like they are similar MVs, there are distinct differences between the Korean and Mandarin versions that are important to EXO's storyline. Plus, I think you may even enjoy the Mandarin version of the song just as much, or more.

In America most gymnastics I see are done by women. From high school cheerleading all the way to Olympic sports, womens gymnastics (flips, summersaults, etc) are common and badass. But in Kpop it's mostly the men I see doing them (like in Overdose). The closest Ive seen is Yoohyeon in Odd Eye and Handong in the 2PM My House cover. If anyone reading this knows of some girl idols who rockes some kickass gymnastics in dance performances I'd love to get a recommendation!

Dreamcatcher's covers are always something special, especially when they change it up a little bit to make it their own. (Havana, Lucky Strike, Faded, My House, Kill this Love, this song and many others) ❤ Lately the covers by Dreamcatcher have been a bit more "normal" as they haven't changed the instrumentals as much as before, but in return we see other groups start to cover Dreamcatcher's music a lot more, and some are even doing them in their own styles. My favorite example of this would be La Poem's version of Vision, rock-opera vibes? Yes please. As for EXO, i was never a huge fan, but i added Overdose to my Spotify playlist back in the day when i first got into kpop around 2015 or so. It's a bop and a half, and Siyeon's version is so epic. ❤

Exo use to be 12 members. 8 Korean and 4 Chinese. Exo-K performed in Korean with 6 Korean members. Exo-M performed in Mandarine with 4 Chinese and 2 Korean members. Now it's 8 Korean and 1 Chinese member as 3 Chinese members left the group. Last Chinese member Lay has unfortunately not been able to participate for a few years now because of political things between S. Korea and China. Although things are improving and he did, with the help of greenscreen, participate in Don't Fight the Feeling. Us Exo-ls (name of fandom as it stands for love and goes between K and M)hope he surprises us by being in this comeback but it's doubtful if he will. Thank you for also doing the cover by the Dreamcatcher member as I've been thinking of diving in to the group. Please do the Ultimate Guide to Exo it's almost an hour but trust me, we won't mind. This way you learn of their concept and about the members and also, by learning that you will somewhat get the mv's.. Although, even OG Exo-ls don't fully know the concept as it is very intricate. All I will say is Exo are aliens from Exo Planet, they are here to protect us from the Red Force, who want to destroy the Tree of Life and steal Exo's powers which each members have. Their debut song, Mamá give a short backstop at the beginning. Ok I will stop yapping (typing?) For now.

From what I observed through the years her performance and Mamamoo Wheein's Candy are some the most loved covers by EXO-L (EXO fans). Just for info - that "Candy" is a song by one of EXO's main vocalists - Baekhyun, who is also a soloist. 7 out of 9 EXO members are successful soloists. Anyways, I want to recommend you the very first EXO video - one of the two pre-debut songs "What is love". It was released in March 2012, before even EXO to debut on 8th April 2012. The EXO original _is_ brilliant (and that MV is _quintessentially_ SM)... ...but Siyeon. _Siyeon..._ EXO-K and EXO-M were kinda the two original sub-groups; EXO-K performed their Korean-language songs (like this), while EXO-M performed in Mandarin. Since then, they've formed other spin-off subgroups like EXO-SC (consisting of Sehun and Chanyeol) and EXO-CBX (Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin). Siyeon's version is from a competition series called V1 (as you may have noted from the overlay), which took place over a weekend. She performed against 7 other female vocalists in three rounds (Overdose was the second song she performed)... and spoiler - _she came second._ And I totally agree; while I love the cover _because Siyeon,_ that arrangement was something else... If you want to see the other songs she performed on V-1, Round 1 was Last Love (끝사랑), and Round 3 was Moon of Seoul (서울의 달). Overdose is the one that went viral, but of course the other two were stunning as well...

Just to expand on this a bit. As Brickerbrack mentioned, Siyeon came in second in the competition and she was very surprised that she did. Not because she expected to come in first, but because she didn't expect to do as well as she did. This happened almost 4 years ago and, for some odd reason, Siyeon was still not very confident in her vocal abilities.

Love your reaction. ❤ It is impossible to compare. If you particularly like slow songs, I would recommend EXO's What is Love, Dont Go, Promise, Monster and Cosmic Railway. Some of these are live only. And then there are 2 exceptionally good solo songs from two of EXO's members Baekhyun Bambi and Kai Mmmh.

I like both versions but I like Siyeonˋs better. (Ateez often do covers and usually I like them better, too.) I think I have heard this song before (Exo Version) I like it but of all the songs I know of Exo so far I like the other songs better. Not saying that this song is not good. But since I heard Siyeonˋs version… that one is fire 🔥 🫶

You need to listen to EXO’s live performance. I prefer EXO versions as the song is definitely a sing + dance ♪(´ε｀ ). My fav female vocalist are GG Taeyeon 😊
