I don't have much of a problem with this comment at all, but I just wanted to spread a bit of awareness. Lay is a youth ambassador for China. Even his presence in S. Korea is tense right now. The relationship between China and S. Korea are on non-agreeable terms, so SM is actually protecting him from any backlash should he show too much activities in S. Korea. Other Chinese idols, especially ones from Hong Kong, don't have this problem since they're not representing the Chinese government like Lay is doing and Hong Kong was previously a colony of Britain and therefore having some independence from China. Please understand, Lay wants to be with his members, they've sang, danced, lived with each other for years. Of course he misses them. But know that due to political tension, he can't do things in South Korea(or in general really) with out some sort of repercussion. Mostly, they seem to praise D.O/Baek . Despite being a rapper, he can turn into a lead vocalist anytime and he's multi talented (why I don't have to mention as everyone knows)... It’s more on the issue way back ago with lag which was why he wasn’t in the last comeback but started investing more time in his individual idol appearance. There been something going on in China and lay being a major idol face for music is stuck in the mess. Which is why everyone makes a big deal about him returning but the reason in Korean version the groups decision from the beginning. In the beginning the group was together but was split into Exo-M and Exo -K M being mandarin/Chinese and K respectively Korean. Lay was part of M since he was from China. Yes in previous comebacks he may have had a few Korean or English lines but during live and such he has to remember both the Chinese lyrics and Korean/English lyrics which could put some strain on him trying to remember everything. The last reason is because of his separate “comeback” into the comeback they wanted full attention on him in Mandarin version instead of partial on both versions

I come to my senses that there are many cases if the voice will fit the songs. It happens in the war when it comes to Baekhyun and chen and I learn how to accept things like this. at the point of release, exo's already been in the business for six years, been at the top for five those. maybe some of you would realize that at that point, exo themselves must already have enough freedom to choose who gets which lines, are at the very least, give their opinions on the who get to sing. i remember jongin saying he lets his hyungs get more lines because he insists they can do more with it. or sehun a bit more insecure about his vocals/rap then compared to now, and i for one can see that his lines are increasing, particularly with some type of songs that he's probably more comfortable with. i'm just saying that it's stupid to blame it all on sm and act like exo are pre-mature rookies who can be forced by their music production team to stick to whatever parts given to them with no room for any type of discussion whatsoever.
