There is a tension adjustment built into the track wheels. On the front of each track, if you look in the directions they explain it all.

Something neat I found too is the Traxx edition actually comes with an upgraded servo - the front upper links are smaller than what comes in the chassis kit. The included spur gear is if you want to run it on the tires - it comes from Traxxas geared down to reduce stress on the motor. As mentioned below the traxxs have tensioners on them - can't wait to see what you do with it! Haven't decided what mods I want to do with mine yet - it went through snow that I couldn't even get my X-maxx through with out jsut going flat out and skimming the top.

Any wear on the trax from the increased speed? I want a fast-tracked vehicle but was afraid these would fall apart. Like the Ken Block Raptor on tracks.

Awesome unit. It is spring here in northern Canada and the conditions are perfect for the Traxx. She floats on the crust and doesn't get an insane amount of snow buildup! Minimal binding as well and only caused when hit with some gnarly approach angles which is expected with a tracked vehicle. We drive Bombardier snow buses up north here for expeditions and even those need to take the right path in order to make it. The whole point is to be able to easily navigate across deep snow with ease, need to leave the technical stuff for the smaller units!

The front roller on each track is on a threaded rod you can wind out to put more tension on the tracks...

The tracks aren’t necessarily made for crawling, more mild trailing in snow, mud, and sand. They are supposed to skip so they don’t bind, be sure to read the instructions they help a lot with the maintenance and use. I spray all the bushings and bearings with a little wd40 after every use. I have had my traxx for almost 2 years and have had no issues so excited to see what you do with them!

Did you do any after market upgrades or is everything stock? Also to switch between traxx and wheels do you have to adjust anything? Or is it just a simple swap
@jdsrcs80612 жыл бұрын
I have the same rig!!! It is a fun to play with in the snow, mud, and sand. Last year I took it out for snow rock crawl and it did great. What I do for each snow and mud session is spray them down with cooking spray. Yep the skipping is normal but they can be adjustmented. 🤘🤘🤘

Tensioners are built into them. Adjust as necessary but not too much or you can break the treads. Approach angle is everything with them. A little skipping is normal

There is an adjustment in the front of the traxxas for tension. I have build one on Benz g500 body, used the futaba cb700 servo with Hobbywing AXE R2 3300KV combo, works pretty good. The downside is draining the batteries super fast. Using 2S 8000mah and only last approx 40 mins or so

Yeah the tracks are not for crawling, does great in your typical off road trail crawl....that where I use mine and tons of fun...Traxxas does not recommend the high speed gear, or high gear on 2 speed tranny's. But I love fine for trail crawls, hills and mud...does great...

Read the instructions. They say only use 11 tooth pinion. They send you an alternate pinion for wheels. I use 2nd gear a bit but it will over heat your esc. My 1080 has hit its threshold and shut down. But once T cools all is good. Please do you expensive servo was grades. I just put on a brushless 45 kg but still runnIng off the receiver. The skipping is saving your drivetrain.

There’s a shock that mounts to an add on bracket on the inside of the portal to limit how much the track will rotate. The easiest way to put these on an scx is to swap axles
@BlueDually4x42 жыл бұрын
Too much tension and you'll likely tear the lugs out of the inside. I don't think I have heard much positive about track kits be it scale or fullsize, seems to be an expensive novelty.

They probably are great if you get a lot of snow or live near sand, I’ve seen the traxx go through some pretty deep snow, they seem good for mudding too but I’ve seen them start to skip in really really thick mud so I’d say they’re meant for sand and snow
