1717 1650kv castle motor is a beast on 8S lol, I just dropped one into my recently acquired Arrma Limitless. Running with the mamba x8s. Almost went with the soda can motor, but I didn't want to mod too much on a new Limitless roller. Maybe later on when I get bored lol. After a quick shakedown run to see how it handled & get a feel for it, I hit 81.17mph @ around ~50% power with the stock pinion, 27T, not too shabby 😄 Great vid, Happy Bashing Bro 😎👍

First off the front flips were AWESOME! Im getting ready to upgrade my Xmaxx and am having a hard time deciding between the 800, 1100, or the 1650. I have a tendency to run my stuff hard and I'm always battling with heat so I was leaning towards the 800. What are your thoughts? Great videos BTW Ive been a follower every since the tire tests!!!

Yeah go 800kv. Gear it 45t pinion and leave the 54t spur.

First just go with a hobbywing max6 esc and you may like that, the 1650kv motors run on 8s but you gotta keep them cool to keep them alive.

I like the smoothness of the sensored Castle. Both are good but in all honesty I’d you’re going to spend the money go with a big 800kv combo.

Forgive my ignorance, but isn't a 1650kv motor more powerful than a 800kv motor if all of the batteries and esc are the same. I have a stock 8s xmaxx and am planning for future upgrades/repairs. What is the most powerful motor you can fit in the xmaxx? I would be ok with relocating/upgrading the esc. I like torque for general bashing, but also like to do speed runs at the same time. The Xmaxx is pretty good as is, but I always want more.

Not in this case. The 800kv is about 2x the physical size of the 1650kv. Way way more torque but lower rpm.

I had seen another video about the motor cutting out with this esc without the stock motor temp sensor installed when hitting full throttle. I took it out and mine ran fine without that with the stock motor until i recieve the wfo mount. Is that sensor really required? Will i have to add that to the 1717 motor? I hope not.

Bought this same motor and broke it in ten minutes the first time out with it. Two speed passes, two back flips off a jump then third attempt, full throttle in mid air and I heard crunch. Motor seized and shredded every tooth off spur. Hobby shop warranty it but afraid to attempt any more backflips.

I wouldn't recommend it. Even castle doesnt recommend this setup in a X-Maxx. Go with the 1275kv stock motor if price is a issue. Go with the 800kv castle if not. The Traxxas motor are pretty good motors.

180/190 is pretty darn hot Joe especially with stock gearing. Fans arent gonna help that much. The stock traxxas motors run cooler. Like to see a video where you run fans on it and see where it ends up. Not a X-Maxx setup worth the money or performance in my opinion. I agree with the one commenter this setup would be great in a large 1/8 like the Kraton exb

Most likely not. I use the 35x35x10 powerhobby fan on my max 6sc. I believe it's supposed to be for the xmaxx stock ESC. It's super durable and strong.

If you gear it up for higher top speed the motor will get hotter, higher gears and more top speed equals more heat, lower gears and more torque equal less heat
