For my electrics i just use my air compressor and a tooth brush with some wd40 at the end to give it a shine. For my nitros i do a complete tear down and clean everything by hand. You have grown so much since i have last looked at your channel, congrats!

I've been using Grios garage ceramic coating spray on my trucks after I wash them. It's kind of like spraying them down with WD40 without the greasy mess! Literally nothing sticks to my plastic/metal and the shine is awesome.

CorrosionX doesn't hurt anything. I use it everywhere... Any joint area.. bearings.. I spray it right inside of my receivers. Totally waterproofs everything

Almost the same way. I spray simple green over it all first, let it soak a bit then rinse and brush. Then it stands in front of heater to dry and warm up abit. When ready a light coat of wd40 over the hole car. I fount it to largely reduce squeaky hinges.

***If you run your RCs away from home, get a 2 gallon garden pump sprayer and take it with you. Way easier to spray the car down while its still wet and muddy and you dont get that crap all over your trunk or back seats. The pressure is enough to clean but not blast bearings and seals.

This is very true. Once it’s dried it’s more of a job to clean it up.

I hit mine with air hose first to minimize how much water I need to spray on it. After washing I use leaf blower. The air is dryer than from compressor and moves more air which I find better at blasting off water.

The biggest tip I have for people washing off their cars is to wash them off, then blow them off with compressed air and finally most importantly put them in front of a fan to finish drying. Set them on end and turn them every half hour so. This accelerates the drying process and helps prevent water from seeping into little looks and crannies and rusting things

Try some Maxima SC1 spray after its clean and dry. The stuff is amazing, makes the body look new as well as all plastic. It protects and makes everything a bit water resistant and makes cleaning easier because dirt doesnt stick as easily. It even smells good, lol. Just be carerful with overspray in the house, it will make most flooring slippery as hell. I found this out the hard way

The seals on these little bearings are actually really interesting. If you look at one under magnification it doesn't look like what you would expect a normal seal to look like. It almost looks like a double lip seal but the outer lip faces neither in or out. They're usually almost straight across. I think this is designed to primarily keep foreign material out as it rests almost on the edge of the bearing race. The inner part of the seal doesn't stick out as far but I believe that is what's designed to keep the grease in. In an application I guess it's more important to keep foreign material out because the grease will naturally want to migrate away from the center so it's a lot less likely it will try to escape.

That is such an interesting cleaning regimen. One thing I would worry about with the Simple Green at the end is having a solid residue left on the shock stanchions, and maybe some other negative effects of having that residue over everything. But hey, it seems to working for you. Thanks for sharing. The technique I do, which I picked up from ShenRC, is water-less: #1) Air hose #2) Vigorously brush all over with a soft-bristle paint brush that's been sprayed lightly with WD40 #3) Air hose again #4) Wipe off any excess WD40 with paper-towels. Works pretty good for me so far.

I used to use it on my dirtbikes and it def made the fork seals drag. Maybe not a huge deal on small RC shock shafts but good to look out for.

Water, especially here will get inside the bearing seals & gets rid of grease/oil in the bearing balls. Then bearing replacement happens.

AWWWWWH ,,,, YES ,,,!!! Air compressor is a very needed item in this hobby , I just blew up the one I had for ten years , went and got a new one the same day , and yes you can blow seals right out of a bearing I've done it accidentally , it's easy to do , and I always put wd40 on plastics and let it soak till next run , wipe it off before running , or everything sticks to it
@ExocagedRC
@ExocagedRC 2 жыл бұрын

I can hose the body off. Tires too. I have a hard time hosing down the electronics and bearings though. I know they’re supposed to be waterproof, but I don’t risk it. I won’t run my rc’s in water either though. If you get to it right after a dirty run I’ve always had good luck going straight to compressed air. Still avoiding the bearings.

Garden hose. Sooner the better, usually comes right off. Even my, not so waterproof vehicles, get the hose. Systems off w batteries unplugged of course. Then I place it on the dehumidifier in the basement for a couple hours. Like brand new, no but clean enough I can check for out of place and or broken things and work on em w/o getting mud all over my bench. Nitros, for 20 years, black top only, if it's running nice and rich the way I want it's most likely blowin' oil all over it's self. Messy, messy, messy. Gets really bad I will use simple green. Yuk. Love nitro..... But what a f'in mess
