Thanks for the info. Just got mine last month and I miss the SALA NEX provided by my previous employer. The spine bar takes some getting use to.

looking to buy this one as well, what's your weight? I'm 5'9 as well and weigh 160, I know you got a small, but with working out in the winter and fitting a harness over all the extra overalls and jackets, do you suppose a medium will work for me? pls get back to me thanks!
@samandbritt224 Жыл бұрын
Mike, I would highly suggest a medium considering the climate you'll be working in. I'm 130 so our physical size isn't that much different, but I know when I'm layered even for 30 and 40 degree weather there aren't many holes left on the waist belt. Add tool holders and you're up Schitt's Creek. These aren't like your tool trailer harness as you can see, fitment is much more specific and has a tighter tolerance but that's literally by design, these things are made to fit very tightly to your body to ensure you don't have to work around the harness in order to get the job done. My suggestion would be reference their sizing chart and measure yourself out slick (pants and shirt) then measure yourself layered out as thick as you would normally go, then see if there are two sizes that either cross over (they typically do for this exact reason) and go from there. The more leg work you do pre-purchase the happier you'll be when it shows up.

Nice video when is the update coming how do you like it
@samandbritt2243 жыл бұрын
Update will be delayed unfortunately. My boss put me on another job so it'll have to wait until the next time we get a job where we have to install the luffer on the crane, however I thoroughly enjoy wearing this product. I could wear it all day and be happy. Its incredibly comfortable and I also found it adjusts well to bulky jackets, bib overalls etc. If you have the money, and don't wanna have pressure point pains all down your back and hips after a long day in the saddle it's money well spent in my opinion.

@samandbritt224 Жыл бұрын
@@77confusedzombie77 nope not a climber, they're usually on the end of my hook though! I'm a crane operator but we have some larger cranes that require climbing lattice for assembly, and do some elevated rigging work as well. I just got annoyed with cheap gear that made my job harder and me uncomfortable, and I remember from my time in the service that my gear is supposed to work around me, not the other way around. So I did some research and found this gem and I couldn't be happier. (You wouldn't believe how many tower guys get jealous when I drag this thing out btw lol)

How’s the weight compared to the NEX? How do you think it compares after having it for a while?
@samandbritt224 Жыл бұрын
I never had a NEX, I had a $60 SALA soft harness and I can say the comparison is night and day. As far as weight comparison I can't speak from experience on behalf of the NEX, but I can tell you that I'm still surprised how light it feels when you consider how it looks. All the weight rides on your hips if it's adjusted right, you only feel anything on your shoulders when you're putting your weight on a positioning lanyard or using the harness to anchor yourself in a position. I literally get excited when I get to wear it and that's after using it for two years. Like I mentioned in another comment though, find their sizing chart and measure yourself out. It's meant to fit like an Under Armor shirt, very tight to your body with zero slop so it's imperative you get the right size otherwise you'll hate it more than having to go through OSHA basic lol.

www.industrialsafetyproducts.com/dbi-sala-exofit-strata-rescue-style-positioning-climbing-harness/ Price has gone up about $250 since I got mine. Good ole inflation. But that's who I got mine from, you may be able to find it cheaper or settle for one that has buckles instead of ratcheting straps to save some coin.

do you use tool pouches on your harness?
@samandbritt2242 жыл бұрын
I use one that Lowe's sells but i wouldn't recommend it for anything, it's more of a carpenters pouch and I need something better. If you do anything other than stand upright anything you put in it falls out.

Did you say it's a size Small? I'm 5'5" how tall are you if you don't mind me asking
@samandbritt2243 жыл бұрын
Yes its a size small, I'm 5'9. IMHO if you can't find a sizing chart online somewhere I'd contact your distributor that you plan to buy from and ask them for one, if they don't have it on hand they should be able to get one from 3M DBI/SALA. Lot of money to pay for something that doesn't fit so do your research up front.

Do you wear bags on it? Tryna think how much of a difference it makes with the bar on the back
@samandbritt2243 жыл бұрын
You can put bolt bags, tool holsters etc on the hip belt, the bar doesn't really get in the way. There are cut outs on the bar mount so a belt accessory can be mounted on the center back and the sides.

I ordered mine right after I commented the above comment and got it yesterday. I'm having issues getting it adjusted to where I want it. The chest strap doesn't slide up to where I want it like my old harness which also makes it so I can't shorten the length of the vertical straps in the from to get my thigh straps where they should be. I don't know maybe I just need to fuck with it alittle more
