Geoffrey Woo sits down with Dr. Dominic D'Agostino, one of the leading researchers in the field of ketosis. Dominic shares his thoughts on the implications of ketone esters as a pathway for improved human performance, metabolism, and therapeutic potential.
Here are a couple of key talking points from the interview:
Two exciting moments Dominic experienced in his years of research with exogenous ketones (adding ketones to the standard diet extended survival time and suppressed tumor growth in his mice study)
What are some of the most promising directions for ketones moving forward?
Of the many benefits stemming from the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting, which ones can be ascribed to the ketones themselves?
“We’ve done a lot of work with metformin, and the exogenous ketones can blow away metformin when it comes to reducing blood glucose levels and insulin levels.”
The biggest misconceptions of ketone esters (can it directly cause weight loss?)
Dominic's own intermittent fasting routine and his applications of the practice
“We’ve done a lot of work with metformin, and the exogenous ketones can blow away metformin when it comes to reducing blood glucose levels and insulin levels.”
Why the concern of ketoacidosis caused by exogenous ketones is not valid
“I see [HVMN Ketone] as the next creatine, but with broader ranging implications that could even be incorporated into our food supply.”

I just started taking BHB salts this week. Big difference in appetite, mental clarity and body energy. Taking with Ketogenic Diet. So happy I tried this. Using a ketone breath analyzer I am getting readings even on my 24 hour, WOW !

I would love to see this conversation again given all the studies and research that supports drinking ketones even more now.

Great discussion! However the light panel in the background is harsh, distracting, and makes it hard to see both of you.

I am a mom and I'm in good health with 2 boys. I fast and fall between Paleo/keto nutrition. I wish someone would say OK try this fast, 12-14 hours, have dinner (exactly what they should eat).... try this on your 14 and 16 year old.... I have it pretty together BUT some days I would love it if someone would just have a PLAN to try and Follow.... There is so much out there that is not concrete. Even tell a person what to eat when they go out to a resturant. Sometimes it would be nice to know that YES this is healthy and its all good. You know not have to think 247!:)

So they spike insulin and lower blood glucose at the same time? That sounds very worrying!

Mafooo XM lol. The contrary was stated to your first point many times. It’s a side point that insulin may spike as ketones are indeed an energy source,.... but overall it SHOULD be beneficial.

@@aloevera7422 it's the lowering of blood glucose that is most worrying. Hypoglycemia is never a good thing

Dr. D'Agostino you should take a teen, 20 year old, 30 year old, 40 year old, 50 year old, 60 year old, 70 year old, 80 year old, etc..... and have them follow the same regime, the same ketone intake, same nutrition, EXERCISE would obviously have to be different, TEST them and see what you come up with. I am 49, SO I'LL BE your 50 year old subject
