Even in the OG difficulty, yeah if you could grind those out you were set. IIRC this boss is also weak to the perfectly timed Geno Whirl, which kills in one hit.

@Skelux I believe what "doubles your defense" actually means is "takes half damage" (i.e. same as geno boost defense effect). You might want to double check that the Ghost Medal is actually doing nothing when you have 0 defense. And if I'm wrong or they changed it in Remake, apologies! Not that it's likely to make that much difference on this when everything is going to one-shot Mario anyways, but worth noting. It's awesome to see mods of this already though!

BTW just looked at your info about the mod on your website. Another important tip for getting through the early game: Mario's jump special (and ONLY jump, not super jump or ultra jump) increases in power by 1 every 2 times you use it. I think it caps at 100 extra power, but that's enough to deal good damage to a lot of early game enemies and bosses even at level 1.

did Nintendo add any difficulties beyond Breezy and Normal? you'd think with such OP and broken items like these that there would be more difficulties to make them feel more balanced.

You probably don't need it for the run but have you considered getting Party Energizers to increase the power of the attack items?

@@Skelux Yup, they do! Very useful for getting rid of the Wind Crystal in the Culex fight ASAP, and for normal runs it makes Lazy Shell Peach still a valuable damage dealer.
