I never understood why people were using gates, as I learned to work an expander pretty early on in my studio experience.... Nice explanation!

Thanks for the demo! Very helpful. We've been trying noise gates and haven't got the results we were hoping for. Looks like expanders are the way to go!

Been playing with this a Lot the last year, if you have alot of room noise a downward expander is easily the way to go, It's alot cleaner because it also eliminates the noise when you speak which a noise gate does not do and it means you typically do not need noise suppression either which always lowers the quality of your audio a bit.

can you explain this using the dbx 286s ? :) not sure which knob controls the expander and which controls the gate :D thanks!

Hey buddy - funny finding you here :-). I actually wanted to buy a gate for my guitar rack. Was looking at a 4 channel gate, so each amp in my amp switcher has it's own gate. On the high gain settings - it's noisy when I stop playing, even with the volume of the guitar down. I see Behringer makes a 4 channel gate/expander/compressor/limiter, which looks ideal, but I wonder if this would work for guitar? Behringer Compressor (MDX4600 V2). Always welcome your input brother! So happy I found a video by you on this topic! \m/

Hello! I bought a behringer multigate like this, but my unit is having some white noise/hiss noise, like an amp with high volume, not interferences, when I apply gain to the mixer it is connected to, is this normal? If I connect the mics directly to the same mixer and apply the same gain on the mixer I don't get any noise. Even the red leds that indicates the sound attenuation are making some different noise. Does this gate have really clean outputs? I plug dynamic mics into the gate's xlr input and then send the gate's xlr output to the mixer's input, all via balanced, shielded xlr. Is this correct? Even if I don't plug anything into the gate input, I still get hiss if I apply any gain to the mixer it's connected to. Thanks!

Hello, I wanted to use Composer Pro-XL for my guitar. But, I have an issue. The composer is connected to my Audio Interface with Send/Return, when I play the guitar while The Composer is off I can hear my guitar but once the Composer is on the sound cut-off! Would you please help me with this matter? Thank you :)
@GeekyNerdyTechy6 ай бұрын
It sounds like a noise gate setting. If it's too high it will cut your sound (or it's wired up the wrong way)

@@GeekyNerdyTechy I did figure just after I did send you the 1st message. I had to add another XLR between the compressor and audio interface lol. Thank you for your answer :)

Hi...I have small room (10m2) which is completely covered (top to bottom) with Sonitus Pyramis 7 wall panels, almost death. In room is 4 Shure SM7-B mics to 18in8 Scarlet usb interface, distance around 1m, mics is 180 degree opposite each other. When recording dialogs second mic capture audio. Difference in levels is around 25dB (speaker peak at -6dB, other mic unwanted sound at -34dB). Can MDX2600 resolve this? thanks for good videos!!!

Hi sir. Can I use behringer pro xl mdx2600 for singing with backing track live in KZbin? I'm looking for a solution to avoid clipping or distortion due to sudden high/loudness in vocals while singing. What can you suggest please?
@GeekyNerdyTechy4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it should work fine because it has a limiter built-in. You still need a preamp for the microphone though. The DBX 286s is an all in one that will work for what you want if you don't have a microphone preamp.
