Hey Seniac! Glad to see you playing NIMBY, hope you keep this series going. The happiness is a combo of expected vs actual travel time & cost. You can see the pax’s expectations when you hover over any of the colored face icons. You just get a feel at what price they expect for certain distances and adjust from there with consideration towards time as well. Make their journey longer than they want you’ll have to be slightly lower on the price etc. And yes the refunds are coming from too high a fare, this is shown on the accounting pages. Also a note on trains/tracks, medium speed goes up to 160kmh and the trains you switched to only go 110, so no need to buy high speed tracks. In most urban occasions with frequent stops even faster trains won’t accelerate/stop fast enough to show any ROI on the added cost of high speed track. And yes the trains you were using initially were almost like using UK 800 class train sets on the tube 😂

You should try doing some trams in manhattan or if you get enough money, high speed trains down long island

There are mods for airplanes, ships, bus etc in the steam workshop but you still have to lay "tracks" for them to work and the mechanics for passenger behavior and simulation are unchanged. With how abstract this game is, I won't be surprised if it will eventually expand to all modes of transportation lol

While Nimby has some very interesting transport design elements, I found it is pretty lacking in terms of user gratification. It is pretty lacking in goal-oriented design, so, once your lines become profitable there is little beyond further building it out just to see what you can come up with. Even a sandbox should provide a bit of direction. I really think it needs a mission or unlocking/campaign mode. But then again, it isn't really a finished game.

Woah the refunds are crazy. Lower the ticket prices or increase the frequency of the trains.

definitely should, but he should lower the prices of the per km cost, as the base ticket price is really only used as a "at least I'll make this amount of money no matter how far a passenger goes"

add more platforms to Manhattan or another large stations to deal with large capacity also make express trains

Looks like you're losing almost half of your profits to refunds. And it looks like they are overcharged. When you click on a station, you can see how much each pax has paid. Also you can hover over the faces in the list and see how much they will be happy to pay for the trip. Nice series btw:)
