Hey Jaabo What a lovely thing! It very much reminds me of our journey on the Deutsche Bahn ICE from Hannover to Hamburg and back again. German railways are incredibly reliable. On the day we travelled there was a strike by workers on the rail network. I’m not sure what form the action took, but we still managed to catch the train and only arrived 7 minutes late at our destination. Many years ago, my friends from Greenville SC took a train from Charleston (I think) to New York. They were taking the QE2 to Southampton, England. Weeks before the trip they gave me their itinerary and told me their train was already several hours late getting into New York? I asked for an explanation and was told that the Carolinian/Piedmont always ran late? The first time I travelled to my brothers home in Southern California in 1994, I was amazed at the amount of road traffic heading on the “10” to Los Angeles. I asked my brother why people didn’t commute by train, as most folk travelling to London do. I was shocked to learn that, from San Bernardino there was just a single train each day.. We’ve just picked up a very grubby but near complete version of LEGO set 181, “complete train”. The missing parts have just arrived from The Netherlands. The battery car looks clean, but I’m yet to test it. All the stickers are intact and in good condition. Fingers crossed the contacts aren’t corroded and the power cord isn’t broken! Another fun video. With guest appearance.

In my hometown, train headlights are on whichever direction the train is moving. If the train switches direction at the end of the line, the front light turns off, and the “rear light”, now facing forward, turns on.

Lookin Good, Jaabo! I took a train an hour each direction every day during my commute to get to work/school between 2003-2005. I loved it, riding in trains is fun and in CA at least, you are allowed to drink on the train! When the SF Giants played at PAC Bell Park, there would be so much energy and commraderey .

I have partial train cars when bought them in a local garage sale over 10 years ago. Jaboo, now you just give me the inspiration to get those missing parts to a complete train set…. May take me many years

I looks pretty good over there. My youngest son (4 years) recently got the latest green/black passenger train from 2022. It looks a lot similar except it hasnt got the end wagon. He and me were very happy with that one 😅

The straight portion is roughly the same length as the train itself, so once all the cars are aligned, the train turns.

The downside to using two powered engines when combining copies of a set like this is that you lose the DVT's extra internal space. On the other hand, it does free up the DVT chassis for coach conversion. I think the custom coach looks fine with an all-white roof. Most cars wouldn't have that skylight, that's more of a lounge car thing. I have a partial of this set from a yard sale. I have the motor engine, and the coach, both _mostly_ complete. Unfortunately, no battery holder; that's a pain. I wonder if anyone's done a 3D print version of it (I'd have to add contacts myself. but better than nothing)... Granted, I could just use one of my track power 9V motors since I have those as well as a bunch of the gray 9V track.

Nice! Won't the motors damage each other? (If the one on the back is quicker, the front one gets pushed and the other way around, the back one gets pulled). Because of your new car, I saw that the roof looks like train track on all those cars. I never saw that before and I used to own this train myself.

One thing I guess Lego never ended multiple train motors. No matter what era - it’s hard ever finding any motors that run at the same speed
