Expanding Your Eurorack Setup with the ES9 and VCV Rack Ft. Omri Cohen

Bridging between the worlds of software and hardware instruments is a long-standing ideal among electronic musicians. It's easy to imagine why: the precision of control and extensibility of the computer coupled with the tactility of hardware instruments has the potential to open completely new musical dimensions.
Luckily, this type of setup is simpler now than it ever has been. In this video, our pal and hybrid setup aficionado Omri Cohen walks through some ideas for integrating a hardware Eurorack system with the virtual modular synthesizer VCV Rack…focusing on the Expert Sleepers ES-9 Eurorack audio interface as a bridge between the two worlds.

there should be a dedicated ES9 module for VCV and may be a VST controller for ES9 the software is ok but it needs some polish

So I’m looking at your trade in program. It says no broken items. Is this a concrete rule with no wiggle room? Like for instance, would you take a trade for an EXTREMELY rare synth that is broken? I’m talking rarest of the rare. First edition no Star holographic kind of rare. I’d understand if the answer is still no, but I feel like there has to be exceptions.

Its simply too complicated for my stupid brain , ...im having JUST enough brain to patch my 3 Oscillators and program my hardware synth's ,- I wish i had the time and patience , but i tried , and i failed ,- too much work for too meager output , and produced MUSIC ...Sorry...

Get out while you can. Software is as expensive as I've spent thousands at Cherry Voltage. But man the presets are awesome.

Hybrid setups can be fun, but keep in mind that latency compensation can be an issue going back and forth between VCV/Ableton/Bitwig regardless of how powerful a computer someone uses. There will always be some latency, which is more apparent with rhythmic clocking, and percussion. Omri has spoken about it being a problem for him many times during his Q&A videos, and its why he does not normally do much with hybrid setups anymore. With that said, I do love my es-8/es-6 combo for multitracking, or for using software effects.

I can see how going back and forth can build up. But if you're only going one way, is there anything you can do to compensate or even mitigate the lag to any appreciable degree?
