Empires of the North has a lot of faction expansion packs now! Here is my Buyers Guide for which factions to get first and how each of them work. However the biggest challenge I face here is . . . will I be able to pronounce ANY of the names of the factions themselves correctly?

Played this game again today after many plays over a year ago. Chose the Japanese faction with Storage phase. Man, those few extra rules took so long for me to wrap my head around. I love this game, and loved playing that faction once I got going, but sage like advice putting Japanese last. Great video！

I bought this game used a couple years ago, and finally played it last night. We all really liked it. I consider it a nice break from one of our other favorite games in that same line, 51st State. Thanks to your buyers guide I now have some Barbarians headed this way...good going Luke 🤪

That was a great video and very much appreciated. The Japanese factions are my favourite in the game so far. The Romans are also fun, but feel less interactive. I have purchased the Barbarians and Egyptians, but have not used them yet. I am afraid that power creep is happening as the newer clans seem to outperform the clans in the base game except for the Mackinnon clan.

There is the potential for that, but I haven't noticed it as of yet - with the new factions, they can do some nice stuff but then also take more effort to make work well. I would imagine if I put some of those high difficulties on a complete novice, they'd fall flat.

I really enjoy this game, just taking out a deck and competing. Have all the expansions, and the box is packed full, so if they want to release another, we're going to need a bigger box. I need an insert for this game, tossed the base insert out a while ago.

Found this video late. Empires of the North replaced IS for me. I'll have to take a look at the folded space insert. My favorite clan is Umineko. Such an interesting addition to the docking and storage phases. if I would make a top clan list, Umineko would be #1 followed by #2 Buddica, #3 Amenhotep, Flavian, McKinnon, Ulaf.

Hello again, great video. Have you given any thought on the balance between the clans? We just played a three player game. I had Trajan and won by a large margin with ease.

I don't play it enough to really comment on game balance - but I haven't had major issues from my experience.

Love this as a solo game but find the original Imperial Settlers and 51st state works better in multiplayer - just too little interaction between players in EotN. I also find EotN to be a tougher game to teach to new players seeing how unique every clan is, and just by looking at the official FAQ there's a lot of rules/cards that can be misinterpreted. I've spent more time looking up rules clarifications on BGG for this game than any other in my collection. Will you do a review for Rise of the Empire for Imperial Settlers?

Fraid I don't have much expertise with that expansion but reviews for it haven't been overly positive. I found all 3 types of Settlers games to not be that great for multiplayer interaction, but State was ultra generic in feel and player differentiation. IS had some cool mechanics and a nice solo mode but having to deck build for balance when you got expansions was a pain.
