I really appreciated this interview. It was the most honest that I have ever seen on Panama. I’m from the States as well. Every interview that I see they paint Panama as “a perfect” place. Panama by far is not perfect. Panama has many pros. But, the cons she explained is on point! You definitely have to pack your patience here. Customer service is NOT on their main list there. Nevertheless, once you’re able to overcome those obstacles, it can be a great place.

I LOVED this episode. Here's what I will say. We were in Panama for 6 weeks. We tried to buy Pio Pio in several locations from Panama City to Coronado. From "We ran out of chicken" to us just standing there waiting and watching locals roll their eyes (We left) We have NEVER tasted one piece. We are going back again, maybe we'll get lucky. P.S. my husband says he will bring you some grits :-)

Great interview of an interesting person! I am a US citizen living in Panamá for 31 years. I married a Panamanian and instead of him settling in the US, I brought my two children to live in Panamá City. This country has changed tremendously in these 31 years. My children all live in Florida after leaving for college and finding their career opportunities there. We have our house in the city, but have a small cabin in the highlands of Chiriqui where we spend a lot of time and have many expats from different countries as neighbors. Karen is so right when she encourages you to come and check Panamá out. However, don’t buy right away. There are beach towns, mountain towns, big cities and small cities. Many areas have 7-8 months of rainy season and 5 months of dry season. You need to experience both. Some places are much less expensive than others. Unless you exclusively live among expats, learning Spanish will be a plus. Communication and correct information is key to making wise decisions.

Great video! First time here via my neice because we are making our first trip to Panama' in December 2024 for our family reunion. She is doing some research about Panama'. My parents, siblings, grandparents and cousins are from there (Kings, Wallens, Dupreys and Duncan's!). We also have family who still live there. My parents are now deceased, so it will be an emotional trip to be there without them. We will be in Panama' City.
