Yeah interesting you Old Dog !! another great video, i agree i have 3 cards savings, credit and current accounts each i can draw on and also can go online banking anywhere in the world and move money around, interesting about the phones, i agree have 2 phones where the contacts can email or text and get another local phone you can add a sym card into, thats what was bugging me i remember you saying zoom did send you a digi number to confirm on your phone? so its best to keep your home mobile to receive is that correct? anyhow Hail The Chicken!! hopefully waiting to get flights maybe Nov/Dec fingers crossed.

Steve came off as a cool guy with the perfect temperament for world travel. He also appreciates the expat community in Dumaguete. I've lived in southeast Asia forever you cannot underestimate the value of having an expat community that you like. That every blogger I've seen from Dumaguete seems like a kind and thoughtful person is almost a cosmic fluke. I was on my way there and the day I was flying got locked down in Iloilo . One warning about the Schwab account. It worked great for me until I changed my permanent address to Thailand then they cancelled my ATM account.

Listening to this is giving me a FOMO attack! lol I'm 64 early retired and moved from Virginia Beach to a small town on Virginia s Eastern Shore. I like that I no longer deal with insane traffic and drivers and little to no waiting in lines but I find myself spending more and more time watching expats sharing their new life adventures living abroad. I was looking at Hualtuca Oaxaca Mexico but now maybe more interested in the Philippines 🇵🇭 🤔 Thanks for your videos!

Kind of sounds like my trip. I went in March for three week vacation to see if I liked the Philippines. Found I didn’t like Danao City and went to Bayawan based on a video by Gio. Then I was caught by the lockdown, stayed two months in a hotel locked in, spent the next four months with a girl friend in a house, and finally got back to the US last Friday. I’m here fixing things so I can go back. My plan is to go back as soon as Duterte opens the country up to tourists. I never had a bad day in the Philippines, even locked in my room. I’m still paying rent and supporting my girl friend. Can’t wait to get back. I’m going to get a dual SIM card phone so I can use both phone numbers.

Hi Paul ; take my advice or leave it . My ex wife is an ER Nurse . The wrecks she has witnessed with bike wrecks and the savage rips to the bone because they were wearing cutoffs and thongs are deffinitly something you should take into account . 20 miles an hour of bare flesh meeting the road rips to he bone . No skin grafts repairs that . In some cases amputation is the only option as gangrene sets in . Whatever , Baybe May might trust in god but I certainly wouldn't trust in you sitting on the back of a scooter side saddle. Even Mark had a wreck last week ( every man has a story ) He has big time experience on motorcycles . Bayby Mae needs a helmut and Leather riding chaps . Perhaps a leather shoe maker guy could make some for her for a reasonable price . I know and you know how happy you are livin in parridis with a girl you can trust . For goodness sake you wouldn't let your kids sit side saddle and not have safety wear on your duaghter or son . You love this girl . HELMUT, RIDDING CHAPS AND PROPER FOOT WEAR AND SITTING on the scooter the proper safe way . We only have this moment in time . Anyway for a small investment towards a girl that loves you is a no brainer . Bettcha your smile will be even bigger when she has her cutoffs on and Leather riding chaps . Sincerely Bruce Tattrie Edmonton

I echo Bruce’s comments. I lived in Taiwan for a few months and bought a 125cc bike. I had numerous minor spills, and one medium one. Life is cheap in the third world and people don’t think about consequences like we do here in the USA. Please protect yourself and your loved ones.

With a Google Voice phone number that works once you have an Internet connection ... you can receive verification texts from your Financial institutions. No need to have an international phone plans from any U.S cell provider. ONLY CAVEAT: Use a vpn, that will a U.S location ... so Google does not complain about your location. You can use a FREE vpn.

@rehmarines
@rehmarines 4 жыл бұрын
You can use Google Voice with the app from your phone or through the browser on a computer. It’s free to sign up and you get a local phone number. I’ve never had the number rejected by a service because it’s an Internet number, it looks like a local number. It is something you want to do before you leave your country for SE Asia and you want to make it your primary number with your financial services.

Steve seems like a great guy. We need more easy going level headed guys who retire here. I live and vlog in La Union. And I feel the pain of getting money here also. I have a Schwab checking acct. They do charge atm fees the whole month, but, at the end of the month you get a reimbursed for them. It's great. So yeah.. essentially no atm fees. And you earn interest on your money when it is in the checking account. Also, most banks only let you get about 200 USD / 10K pesos at a time. Some kind of money laundering law that was passed. Just a ploy for Banks to be able to get more transaction fees. $250 pesos per international debit / cc transaction at the atm. But, BPI lets you withdrawl 20,000 Pesos at a time. for the same $250 peso atm fee.

Signing up for a VPN Service before you leave the US is probably the most important thing you could do, I didn't realize how much I needed it until I had already lived in the Philippines for over 2 years. The VPN will mask your identity to the US so you won't have to worry about 3rd party verification on any website or bank account. It makes like a hell of a lot easier.

But what I did was get a GF in each of the countries I visited and lived in: Singapore, The Philippines; Vietnam and Thailand. I'm still friends with most of them. IMO it's best to do one small cash advance on credit cards in country to make sure it actually works. I've heard people (I think Mark?) depend on cash advances but when needed the bank refused for one reason or another. Cash advances are completely up to the bank as to whether you get the cash or not.

@@paulinthephilippinesolddog9234 wow.. I finally figured out how to send messages back and forth this is great I am very new to any kind of messaging on KZbin, I will be in Butuan city Philippines summer 25th through March 17th I'm coming to the Philippines for the first time ever I am getting married to a woman that I met on a dating app This will be our first time being all together At least in person I've been paying her entire bills for her home and mine for the last year and a half Which is why it surprised me when you said it one of your videos you're trying to budget yourself to live on $1,000 My budget is exactly $1,000 to pay for both American bills and Filipino bills all together And I manage every single month Lately her electric bill has been really high but other than that I'm still managing quite well I watch a lot of your videos I would love to get together and say hi in person

Hey Paul great video, one question, for a three month visit, what would you say, on the high side, would be adequate funds to have. This would just be for the visit stage. 😊👍🏽

It will happen if you go there. His phone did not get left behind by him. His phone was stolen, it is what it is. How many times have any of us lost or left our phone somewhere? NEVER There are some of the most effective and skilled pickpockets in the entire world in the Philippines. A little child can be trained by these people.
