Hey Scott! Basically, anything related to the government and internal politics. And sensitive topics like gender, religion, sexual taboos, etc.

Expats: if you can't speak their language, teach them to speak yours instead. And so it was.

Yeah, but I do think it is important to at least try hard to learn the local language. Even though it was not very easy for me to learn it, I always tried using the basic level of Mandarin I had. =]
