I am confused over the whole scientific investigation. With the funding, is it not a wasted opportunity to tag white shark known locations within the med to understand their migration habits. Then to explore the Atlantic?.

I’d thought exactly the same thing. Tag near Gozo & the Adriatic and watch them go!

Probably couldn't get a license to patrol the Med

I thought the same, why waste time and money to go to Ireland? If you want to study white sharks in the Atlantic, the white Sharks are proven to be in northern Spain (sometimes Britanny but not for the past 50 years) and in the med? We know where the Med white sharks hang around and we know they feed on tuna, dolfins, etc. Same for the white sharks in the Atlantic, they are in the Cantabrian Sea north of Spain where they feed on Tuna, Dolfins even whales and turtles, where they follow the deep canyons of the Cantabrian sea. There has never been a proven sight of a white shark in Ireland, and we know this population doesn’t feed on seals. And as for sharks as whole, there are more species of sharks in the Cantabrian sea and the Bay of Biscay than up north around the British isles.

Would it not have made sense to have actually gone to the Mediterranean, tagged whites in the know locations and the. Tracked to see their movements? Seems like a wasted trip.

Surely if they were visitors to uk waters on a yearly basis then there would be more encounters with the large number of recreational shark anglers that we have in the uk? I do think they are visitors, but I would guess its very rarely. Is the reason for not starting in the Mediterranean due to having problems getting permission?

Funding maybe

They weren’t in UK waters, they were in Irish waters part of the Republic of Ireland. But yes agree, it would have made sense to tag in the Mediterranean and then track their movements from there.

There's no great whites in English or European waters

I was wondering if the expedition has actually properly entered the Mediterranean sea? Or is this still going to happen?

Versucht es doch einmal, bei Rimini Italien Adria, dort gab es in den letzten Jahren Sichtungen, sogar auf Video, wo ein großer Weißer einem Fischer seinem Thunfisch gefressen hat. GOTTES SCHUTZ U. SEGEN 💙🇻🇦(FSSPX-Wien)💒🛐💙

What part of the Med is Ireland in? lol

I think Ireland is up above, or at least somewhere around Britain. Isn't it?

@@sharks3653it was a slightly sarcastic comment by the other person. They're right ireland couldnt be further from the med 🤣

So I'm guessing they got the anchor fixed? They gave him that pipe for free? Generous. Years ago, there was a sighting and a photo taken of a supposed white shark in Ireland.
