Nuiea had a cyclone a few years back. It was so massive and intense that the waves picked up huuuuuge coral bombies and lifted them up and over onto the top of the cliffs and destroyed concrete houses. Swept them away from their concrete foundations. The forest was also destroyed for hundreds of metres inland. The cliffs were 12 metres above the ocean. Man, the power of the Pacific Ocean eh.

You know - the biggest event in this episode was Oceane and her accident. You've left everyone here hung out to dry! From Jordans first teary report to landing at Niue very little on her and her condition was related to us hence most of the comments below regard Oceane and her well being. Everyone would like to know - how is Oceane and is she continuing on the trip. This episode would have been more complete with a little more input about Oceane and how she was/is doing instead of leaving everyone worried for a whole week. That inclusion would have made this the top vid..........................:)

Happy to read Oceane is on the mend and the crew onboard attended to her well. Each soul is there for a reason. As to Sylfia in somewhat heavy weather, and 30 knots is not too heavy for a 75' heavy steel and provision laded down sailing vessel. You guys should be able to plow thru waves like a military naval boat. Yes, you will heal a bit more and you will need more power and you will learn to sail balance, sail quantity and trim more before you get it right...........but you will. l believe in you. Although S/v Atticus (KZbin Project Atticus sp?) is only 30 feet, they have learned well how to balance mizzen sail and headsails for heaver weather power. May want to watch a few episodes. You can do it !!

I have seen two fingers, that rode a retrieving anchor windlass sprocked underneath the chain. Luckily the finger pushing the button belonged to the same person. ;-) It was only a 10m boat, so the remains found back together fairly well eventually. Try that on Sophia and you only need to clean 8 fingernails from there on. Hope the furler was a bit more gentile. Get well, Ocean, soon it's just a story to tell and a sharpened instinct.

Nothing laid back about the pacific, its very alive. This Island looked like it had a very small cove but possibly not large enough. And a beach, quite far away from all of the shops in the little town, and steepness on land above it. Sure glad it has moorings because its fairly rugged. The shops sound cool in Alofi , Crazy Uga's Cafe, Jenna's Cafe, Nur Bakeries, The Yacht Club, And of couse, Wok on the Rock and Kaiika ! And even a scuba company, Magical Sea Scuba Adventures . The Island is 21 kilometers north to south, 13 miles, and a little less wide. Have fun guys .

I hope you won't mind if I offer a couple of friendly suggestions: (1) please improve the audio. To be frank, it's pretty atrocious. One minute the music is drowning out the voices, and the next the music can hardly be heard. When music is playing while someone is speaking, the voice is the most important component. (2) finish the story...so the most dramatic incident in today's video was Oceane's injury. And the conclusion (or at least the current state) of the story is...we have no idea. Is she dead? Was her hand amputated? Has she left the boat? The segment in which Oceane explained how the injury occurred should also have given us information about the current state of affairs. Example: "it hurt like hell, but I don't think the injury is too serious. Still, I'm taking pain meds, and I'll see a doctor in Niue." What were the actual facts? Dunno...cause you left the viewer hanging. I hope these comments are helpful. Your video footage is generally pretty awesome. Just remember to tell stories: each with a beginning, a middle, and an end. Every vlog should be a complete story: beginning, middle, and end. Good luck!

Reality hits hard . It’s not all beer and sunshine. WTF was she doing trying to fix a Furler at night in heavy seas ? That could have been a fatality. I admire those that want to go to sea and seek challenge and adventure. However never forget that big moving blue wavy form of energy your floating on will Kill you if you aren’t on your game . Nate and Jordan you are great people, but you are responsible for all those people. And I think you lack some of the experience to make the calls out there , but how do get the experience? You get out there and do it right . So please Please be very very careful. I would hate to see your dream become a disaster. . A genoa furled more than half becomes ineffective as the centre of effort moves further away from the centre of the boat unbalancing the helm as well as most important the roll of the furled sail spoils airflow , a storm jib or better yet a sail on your inner forestay usually increases speed and load on the rig and rudder ...
