Hearing the sounds of the dinosaurs again after so many years sent a chill up my spine in the best way. My parents got us Knotts passes every year and I LOVED this ride. While I was young and had no idea what was going on behind the scenes, I very much remember the change of the ride suddenly having to stop for long periods and the boring narration coming over. I was heartbroken when the ride was taken out. I am so glad to have found this video so I can relive some of the nostalgia of this ride. To this day, my family and I will reference that wacky voice of the scientist on the ride saying "Turn back! Turn back!"

You could easily get off the ride and walk around but there were employees that would sit on the ride to catch people doing that. They were always in the same places though so once you knew where they were you could get on and off and not get caught or so I hear. I also know someone that did get caught and pretended they were German and did not know any better and the CM let them off with a warning in slow loud English. Totally miss this ride and Berry Tales.

Just so you know, snippets of this tour were pulled from a old 80's Dinosaur Doco titled, "Son of Dinosaurs" hosted by actors Eric Boardman and the late Gary Owens (Voice Actor for Space Ghost, Blue Falcon, and other cartoons shows). That show has since been released on DVD if anyone wants to see the full tour in completion. DVD is titled "Dinosaurs Dinosaurs Dinosaurs" and distributed by Midwich Ent.

Late to the party on this video. Wow. I was 5 years old in 1988. I've only been to this park once, since I live on the East Coast. I remember waiting what seemed like forever to get on this ride, and being board and generally a pain. I was 5, what do you expect? I very vividly remember the lightning tunnel entrance for the time machine. I also think the scientist had a German accent and said "Ve are going back und time" but could be totally wrong. Yes, I purposely spelled it that way. Again, I was very young. Then I remember being completely terrified of the dinosaurs. I remember having horrible nightmares about dinosaurs for months afterwards. I've even had those nightmares reoccur in my adult years. I wouldn't say I'm scared of dinosaurs, but I certainly don't seek out dinosaur themed rides or movies. Seeing this video, the on ride footage, totally brought me back. It's amazing how the mind of a child is so much sharper and memory so much more vivid than that of an adult. Thanks for the video, and thanks to anyone who's cared to read this far!

I used to love this ride as a kid, and actually vaguely recall seeing the Knott's Beary Tales figures in the funhouse they had for them. Another great video! I am one of the few people who was saddened to see Beary Tales go back then - but KOD was very timely and well received. Especially to the younger kids, which it felt like Knotts was targeting more back at that time (read: Camp Snoopy). The highlight of that ride was definitely the T-Rex reveal. To share a funny (and kind of stupid memory): as a teen (14?) on Beary Tales, a friend in the car dated me to reach up and grab one of the leaves hanging down on the last hill. I did grab one, though didn't break it off, and the ride was promptly stopped and we were escorted off the ride and told if we did something like that again, we'd be banned from Knotts. Stupid teens don't realize there are low light cameras on even dark rides.

Cedar Fair DESTROYED everything that was wonderful about Knott's Berry Farm. When the farm was owned by the Knott Family, they allowed school groups in the LA area to tour the Native American Village and cultural displays, as well as when you studied US History you had educators teaching and telling you about the history of the US at Independance hall and also around the Ghost Town area. Cedar Fair just took something that was wonderful, enriching, and unique and flushed it down the toilet. I enjoyed this ride a lot as a kid, and it disappoints me that they just destroyed it. I remember seeing how the park was destroyed in 2011 and I vowed to never go back. Knotts is not the same as what I remember now, just another wanna be Six Flags high thrills park. Knott's used to be the perfect blend of Disney Magic and Six Flags thrills.

I never been to there and I know I've never ridden the ride, obviously, but I recall attending an event on Louisiana State University where they had set up their own animatronics. It was a brief affair, but I remember it taking place in the Old Howe Russell building next door to where my mom worked and I was in love with it. This was late 80's, early 90's, before Jurassic Park was adapted into a film, so maybe it was inspired by this ride? God, memories man.

I was like 6 or 7 wheni went on this ride in the 90s, and it HAVE ME PTSD. I can't believe that watching ride footage (from other ride thru videos) still gets me nervous. I wanted to conquer my fear of it when I got older, but then it was replaced, and it's sort of unresolved. I think my fear was from the fact so many dinos got so close to the ride vehicles. It felt inmersive, but I felt very much like I was intruding and would end up stepped on by the apatosaurus, chomped by the T-Rex, or attacked by the triceratops and stegosaurus. I partially blame how loud the ride was, and how it stopped randomly in front of them. I guess to me, I enjoy dinosaurs when they are at least 5 feet away and/or behind some kind of structure so I have an expectation of safety.

Kingdom of the Dinosaurs was awesome. I spent many Saturdays at Knott's as a child and this was easily one of my top 3 rides. If you started your day in Calico ghost town by the afternoon you'd be headed into the roaring 20s and Fiesta village. I never had to wait in a line and the relaxed atmosphere of the ride was the perfect way to close out a day of rides before heading over to Mrs. Knotts for chicken dinner and boysenberry juice. So excited to watch this! Grew up in SoCal in the 80s so I remember how much $ they put into advertising this ride. More fun than (but less pleasant smelling) than Knott's Bear-y Tales.

My mum and I used to love this, was about the only ride she would go on in the park.
