They could have added a barrelroll instead of straight track to make the layout somewhat more interesting. Seeing a rollercoaster car do a twist right over your head is more exciting and it would have hardly taken up more space. Oh and use a magnetic launch and maybe not be corrupt of course.

@@ExpeditionThemePark It will never open! State regulation demands that a huge, mobile crane with skilled rescue personnel would be parked underneath the turnaround during all operating hours, in case the train would stall at the highest point. Of course this is more than unlikely to happen, but you can only guess the ridiculous cost for rent and wages.

@@stellaVista I have never heard of such a regulation in Germany and if that regulation is a thing why wouldn't it apply to other launch coasters such as Karacho, blue Fire or desert race? Screw this ride for a comment. I was brought up on an amusement/theme park and without the inventions of Stan Checketts, the 21st Century would have been pretty dull and wooden. Thank you for telling us about his passing Expedition Theme Park, I wouldn't have known otherwise. That piece you put at the end was really classy, and beautifully done. A fitting tribute to the man. I don't think it would be an abuse of timing for you to make a full story of his life. I'm sure all of your subscribers would like a bigger story on a man that was bigger than life. If my memory serves me, When F1 raced at the Nurburgring in the 70s they ran on the Nordschleife, or "Northern loop", exclusively. The Nurburgring GP circuit, which is what F1 uses today, was built years after Lauda's crash in '76. They no longer race on the Nordschleife in Formula 1, although there are plenty of racing series which run the full circuit (the GP circuit as well as the Nordschleife), including a 24 hour event which happens annually. The Nordschleife is the part of the course people bring their cars to for a "track day", where they can drive at their own pace (and risk) around the circuit. There also used to be a Sudschleife (Southern loop) as part of the track, which has since been closed off from the circuit entirely and is now public roads. I'm kind of a big motorsports fan lol like you said, pretty much any fan of auto racing knows about the Nurburgring. Insane that they built a roller coaster there.

As a somewhat regular visitor to the 'ring, I can confirm, that coaster has never worked in the last 9 years. The whole building is like an abandoned shopping mall, there is a tattoo studio, two shops that sell helmets and fireproof gloves, a buffet, another buffet, and... nothing else. I looks shoddily thrown together - bare concrete, no waterproofing, no toplayer; the concrete (as you would expect with unprotected stuff) already started spalling, you see rebar rusting here and there. It will need a restoration in another 15 years or be torn down. At least the roof isn't leaking too bad, so when the floods hit the region, the building was used as a storage depot for the donations.

As a German I have been following the odyssey surrounding the Nürburgring all my life. The problem is that the race track started caring more about entertainment around racing, instead of sticking with its unique flair. Nobody really gave a shit about the rollercoaster. Either you visit the place because you care about cars, or you are not visiting at all. Rollercoasters belong into theme parks, not next to race tracks.

one correction for the history of the Nürburgring. It was not build to stop street racing as the main goal, it was build specifically in this area because it was an underdeveloped rural area with barely any work available. Building the ring first gave them many years of work just for construction and then also allowed other business opportunities once the ring was operational.

I was om the last ride ever of Ring Racer. What a great look at the interesting history of this ride. I consider myself really lucky to have rode it, having 4 rides on the last day of operation. The launch was absolutely incredible, the turnaround was okey, and the long way back a bit dule, but the unbanked turn just before the breakrun was fun. I was on the last ride of the day and when leaving the park we joked about that we would have the last ride ever if it never opened again. Sadly, that joke turned out to be true.

I know it's very nitpicky but one thing I need to clarify: "The Nürburgring is a race circuit located located near to the town of Nürburg". I've heared that so many times from English native speakers and it is just wrong. The "Nürburg" is a medieval castle and the Nordschleife goes around it. There is a very, very small village called "Nürburg" as well but it's mainly named after the castle als "Burg" means "castle". The city shown here at 1:15 is Nuremberg or "Nürnberg" which is in Bavaria, a good 3 hours away from the Nürburgring. Most English natives confure Nürburg and Nürnberg because they pronuounce -berg and -burg the same but it's not the same.

Okay, saw the vid until the end now. Soooo sorry to hear about the corruption. Not so proud anymore of my country. :/ Because it happens all the time. Some company starts a huge building project, and never finishes it due to savety issues, money issues etc. We have a airport in Berlin that is build like since 10 year and will never be finished. Companys buy land and propertys just to own it. They never built anything on it or built very little. They wait until the prizes go up and re-sell the land. Even doe we have a flat crisis currently. People can't affort living in the big citys anymore, because flats became rare and therefore expensive. And the land in the citys were flats could be built, is mostly owned by those mentioned above. It's money, that drives the wealthy people in germany. To become more wealthy, no regard to the rest of us.

The Nurburgring is still not out of the woods in regards to financial difficulties as far as I’m aware. The only reason it hosted a race in 2020 was due to the need to schedule as many races as possible for the championship, and the track paid either a very small, or none at all, fee to F1 in order to host the race. This was originally why the race alternating between the Nurburgring and Hockenheimring was initially introduced, to help mitigate costs on both parties. However, the title of German Grand Prix could not be given to the 2020 race (I believe due to contractual reasons), and so it hosted the one-off (at this point) Eifel Grand Prix.
