Just to clear up the slope function, there are two versions of this range finder. The one in this video is not tournament legal, it is always in slope mode and you can't turn it off. There is also a red and white version, that one has a switch to turn it on and off inside the battery door and that one is tournament legal.

Had a Callaway 200, and a Nikon cool shot 20. Got a Gogogo Sport Laser for christmas from my mother-in-law who didn't know I already had 2 others. The Gogogo was only $70, the other 2 cost $200. The Gogogo matched the other 2 by 1 yard, and my buddies Bushnell by 1 yard. Glass was just as clear, and now I get slope readings too. I sold the 2 expensive ones, kept the Gogogo, and spent the extra cash on a new wedge.

Splashed out on the top of the range Garmin that has the gps built in as well and have to say it's brilliant. To be able to see where on the green the pin is located from 150-200y out instead of just getting a distance number gives you the info on how to best play the shot to avoid sucker pins etc. Of course it still needs you to actually hit it, but for me it paints a clearer picture in my head. Also helps you when you cannot actually see the pin by giving you direction marker, excellent feature for us wayward hitters...

My distance and reading eyesight are both poor but I can not were glasses on course as my iron shots are all fat due to ground looking closer. From 120 yards I can not tell if a pin is front, center or back of green but with magnification in Tour v4 I can read distance no bother. It is only after getting tour V4 I new my distances with each club especially from 130 yards in for wedges. Good to know I can tell my daughter she bought me a Rolex for fathers daythree years ago.

It does not have all the bells & whistles of a Bushnell, in fact it is basic. I could do with some sort anti-shake system for me, but I have been impressed with the Boblov. I also have a Bushnell Excel GPS watch - it is great when it works, but fundamentally it is a really bad product (it cannot even tell the time accurately)

Last year my significant other and my children bought me a SkyCaddie SX500 for my birthday. I absolutely love it!! I got a 60 quid laser off Amazon in the Black Friday sale last year. Never had one before always used a GPS watch. Love the laser, check distance to hazards, marker posts anything. Much more useful than the GPS. BUT I still wear the GPS as its a great ‘guide’ device, if your on the fairway and can see all of the green the GPS is good enough for me as a 14 Hcp. If I’m inside 150 then I’ll laser as I know my SW to 8 distances are +/- 5 and where the flag is exactly will make a big difference between clubs. Go cheap, 4 for the price of 1 !

good comparison there , when you say both tell the time well its true , however when it comes to everything , the price as to do with build quality also so id say the reason in the price could also be linked to longevity and durability , id rather buy something one time and not have to buy again after, as always thanks for the honest review

I've used a laser rangefinder for 3 years now. A couple of points. You need line of sight for the laser to work. Pins without reflectors on them are hit and miss whether you get a reading. Even if it locks on the target, you don't know if it's locked on the flag or the bushes behind the green so you have to use your judgement. Next point, the info you really need is front and back yardage and the yardage of the pin. With the laser you're guessing front and back particularly if the green is elevated. With the GPS you're not getting the yardage of the pin. Lasers tend to be more accurate +/- 1 yard vs +/- 3 yards. You can now buy a device that has both the laser and GPS but they're expensive. More so than if you buy a basic laser and basic GPS......pick your poison. They really help you to understand how far you really hit your clubs which will help your game a lot.

I did a different version of this using a Garmin watch (Fenix 6 Sapphire) and Arccos on my phone (bought a set of Cobra clubs so got a free trial) and the difference was between 5 and 10 yards every time with the Arccos being slightly under meaning you may always end up short. Think this is due to the poor GPS receivers in phones. Garmin was always within 1 yards of my friends Bushnell. Amazing for GPS as we all know a good rangefinder will always be more accurate.

Friend has a Bushel Tour 4v and Ive a wogo amazon one that cost a fraction of my mates one. The differences pretty much are its easier to find the target on the Bushnel (locks on much quicker than mine), a bit easier to use in dull light (yellow rhetorical vs black) but other than that they are essentially the same performance wise. Distances are pretty much the same (my game doesn't notice the one or two yard difference between the units) BUT on the plus side...I saved several hundred quid that I then didn't use on golf lessons! :)

There are quite a few of the cheaper ones that have the jolt feature, and a lot of those don't have slope.

Is the bushnell accounting for slope and the cheap one not? That could result in different distances. I have a cheap lazer myself and it works fine for me by the way. Im not consistant on my distance so being a few yards off doesnt realy hurt me, it just helps plan a hole out when you know how far it is to the bunker, or to carry water, to the middle of the green, or whatever.

I can't see the point in these devices for the average golfer who probably doesn't hit each club the same distance on consecutive occasions. They are OK if you're a consistent ball striker, but as a mid handicapper how far I hit each shot depends on the time of day, the phase of the moon, what I had for breakfast etc. I'll carry on doing it by eye a I've always done.

Peter Molyneux I get that, but I use it to get more of an idea of how far each club goes. I feel I know better now which club will be too much if I really get a hold of it. Even at the range you can get a fairly close distance to a group of balls you’ve hit from one club.

Good blog thinking of trying one out hitting my yardage with with 5 yards each club at the moment so do you think the cheaper one would be ok the starter 🏌️⛳👍

Like you say,, the people who are serious about there sport are likely to buy the bushnell I got the slope switch version for Xmas and tbh I wish I had got one a lot sooner.. I also have a garmin watch but now find it redundant, there’s something about having an exact distance to the flag rather than a front middle back number.. takes out the guess work.. also bushnell advertise that 99.3 percent of the pga pros use there equipment👍🏻

I got a cheap device on amazon after reading reviews. I bought it for 79 us dollars and it has flag lock on and has hill/slope adjustments for more accuracy. It's almost as accurate as my buddies bushnell within a yard of each other!

How about a review of the vice, oncore, cut golf balls to see if they are worth the savings over a pro v or similar ball.

Bushnell Phantom does the job for me, attached to my trolley it's nice & discreet plus gives me all the measurement I need. I'm not at the level yet for a £400 v4, as I'd probably check the yardage looking like I know what I'm doing then proceed to fold a large sod over the ball from 100 yds to obvious hilarity from my mates! 😂

Just got the Inesis 900 rangefinder. £129.99 and I love it. GPS is plus or minus 4 metres. Not very accurate if you are taking on tight flags.

Golf sidekick uses Decathlon’s Inesis V900 £129. It’s got a vibration lock on and the slope can be turned off. Has anyone else tried it?

Good review. I always wonder if the lower cost ones will do what I need them to do verses the expensive ones. Currently use a GPS app for my yardage which does well enough but this has peeked my interest

@sconterboy Have you remembered how to turn it off? I have the Pf210 & our Club Championships are on over the next two weekends. Rules stipulate no slope adjustment can be used. I don't look at the slope number anyway, but both numbers are on the screen & I can't turn it off. Cheers!

I’d like the see this video again with these 2 range finders and an app such as 18Birdies. I’m struggling with even seeing the need for a range finder because I have an app that tells me distances

Every time you shot it they varied within 1-3 yards on both devices anyway so between the 2 value for money the cheap one is better. However the slope point was good.
