Massive thumbs up for OMP. I have been wearing their kart boots for day to day, track days and sim racing for the last 6 years. OMP also cater for a slightly wider foot in my experience than other brands. The way I see it is, if you wear the same driving shoes all the time, there are never any variables. It always feels the same when you drive and that frees up mental capacity to worry about everything else!

I still have a pair of Puma Drift Cats (for me the best experience while driving so far 😂) and just can’t through them away because I never considered a nice substitute, this has changed now. The fact that OMP is sponsoring several racing leagues including teams dictates more on the pricing of they equipment, than what it's "worth", if you break it up in production and material cost. They price it high, because they can. I wouldn't be surprised if you can find a few other brands with on par or even better at less than half the price of those. They are probably very good, but don't ever judge a product on it's pricetag alone.

QSP is very similar to OMP because both their products (at least the dished QSP steering wheels) are made in the same factory. So for 50% less money you almost get the same exact product. Buying the OMP version wouldn't make overall sense

For me the best casual shoes for driving are high heel Onitsuka Tigers, you should check them out, they are comfortable for daily use (but the sole is still low and pretty rigid), they are extremely narrow and the heel is flat, the only con are the shoe laces which are pretty long but it's something you can just replace or tuck inside the shoe

It always pays dividents to spend much money on shoes. Either racing or dress shoes. It's like buying the best tyres you can afford. The problem is you always want more. Absolutely love the yellow OMPs.

I always tell people to get shoes with thin flat soles and a flat heel, just for the public road. It's just way more comfortable and safer than those new fashion shoes with 20 cm heels

I wear addidas sambas for a mix of daily activities and driving, shallow flat sole not bad for driving. Just change shoes when dog walking etc. Got sparcos too

I have Hugo boss shoes that are very nice for driving, casual use and evening use as they’re quite smart! Nice thin flat sole and as you say slim fit with nothing sticking out the sides! I will be grabbing some racing shoes next visit though and some new gloves

I was looking for a pair off shoes for simracing a while ago, but let me tell you, when your shoe size is a little above the average it is nearly impossible to find something. Up to size 46, no problem. But 99% dont even offer annything above that. That#s the price you have to pay when you are a little bit in the taller side

I took the advice of someone at the track and got a pair of karting boots. They're not fire retardant (and therefore not suitable for racing) but they _are_ leather, which is the minimum requirement for the events i compete in. Probably about half the price of the cheapest racing boots

For my weekend driving for the last couple of years I have bee using Asic’s Onitsuka tigers . Not great for walking really but probably the closest sneaker to an actual race shoe. Thin soled ( for a regular sneaker) narrow and provide a great feel through the pedals . Hey if they are good enough for Keiichi Tsuchiya , then that’s all the reasons I need.

I think its a mistake to buy expensive shoes if you can get custom ones made for your feet for 100€ more. I remember watching videos about custom working boots and people are always blown away at first and then decide to be a lifetime customer. You can also wear them for life if the shop offers repairs, which is next level. Are there any disadvantages of custom racing shoes (apart from price)?

And then there are people who have a big foot and have trouble finding a racing shoe that fits at all. Like for example, I'm EU49/US14-15, it's challenging to find normal shoes that I like and are comfortable, so this specific use is pretty hard. I only know of one manufacturer that makes shoes in such a non-standard size and that is racequip

I'm using the same Adidas Fyshe Daytonas just with silver stripes. Use it for karting here and there, autotests, etc. But I've also tried driving longer distances with them. I've had heel pain 🤔 wonder if I should put some padding on the right heel.

Are there any models that are a bit extra wide in the front? My feet are average sized, but my toes are placed quite parallel to each other. This makes slim shoes impossible for me to wear without getting a couple of sizes too large, with too much empty space in front of the toes. No need for FIA certification, as they would be used mainly for simracing.

I will give you guys a nice little cheap tip (but I use this for simracing): Get some old comfortable sneakers and rip the soles off 😂 (you will end up with the inner soles which are thin and provide great tactile feedback)
