Thanks for the request!…I personally have both chalks and switch between both of them, the Roku leaves marks on the cue ball unlike the V10, so there’s more chance of a kick. Also the Roku feels smoother…but the V10 is fairly smooth compared to the Pyro and other Taoms, I personally like both chalks and use both 😅

A piece of Taom Pyro lasted 10+ months for me. I practice for about 10+ hours per week, chalk before every shot. Vice versa, a piece of Triangle or Master chalk usually last 1 month. If you do the math, the price of the taom chalk isn't that bad for the benefit of a cleaner cloth and cue, less kicks. I think it's worth the money.

I thought Taom was for suckers. I have a cubic brick of masters sky blue for my 9ft diamond American billiards table. After seeing several comment on cleaniness I took the plunge and bought the V10. It's amazing. I have 860 hr tournament blue cloth don't see any green at all in the cloth. Cue ball is staying clean. I am really impressed with this stuff so far. Masters was so messy and I was constantly wiping the cue ball down and noticed I was getting chalk in my ball return pocket liners etc. If you own your own table this stuff is well worth the money imo. I just got the v10 and you can more or less spin it on lightly. I like to go across the grain opposite directions then dont chalk at all for 1 or 2 sets. You can more or less look at the tip and tell if its starting to get light. I cleaned the tip with alcohol then kamui gator grip for some texture. It really stays on the tip. The first hit is really the only time you may get some residue to best not to be using it every shot. I usually use masters and are a heavy chalker every shot normally but this should keep the table and the balls much cleaner for at least 10x as long Im sure. I usually play enough to use a cube a week. But my hands are always blue. Grip seems to be slightly better than masters with no mess. The predator and kamui .98 is just a mess just like the masters but the kamui seems to have the most outright grip but the dots it leaves everywhere make that unacceptable.

The Roku is chalk perfection. It is stupidly pricey, but if you lay it next to other chalk you start to see the difference. As someone who has predominantly played Snooker for the past 25 years, Triangle chalk was always the 'bread and butter' go to for me. Then a few years ago I started to get into US 8 & 9 ball pool and discovered this chalk called Taom Pyro. as someone who was used to playing with bog standard '50p a cube' chalk, the price of Pyro initially shocked me but once I started using it I quickly realised why everyone thought it was the bees knees and it subsequently became my go to chalk for both Snooker and Pool. In recent months I've started using the newer Taom V10 which imo is even better than the Pyro as its every bit as clean yet has a slightly softer texture so it adheres better to layered tips ive found. The only minor complaint I have Is its adherence to phenolic tips on pool break and jump cues. For that purpose I believe there is probably something better than V10 but I just haven't found the 'holy grail' yet. I've recently acquired a piece of this Kamui Roku so I'll need to get down the club and experiment to see if I prefer it to V10 and the house Triangle, Master and Predator chalk. I can't see Roku replacing V10 on my playing cues due to the marks it leaves, but perhaps it may be good for chalking phenolic tips with???? 🤔.

I bet half of the pros can't afford that! I've been using toam for a few weeks and it's ok, had a couple of miscues when the cue ball was on the cush, but that's it. It is better than triangle for leaving less chalk on the cue ball. I can't feel any difference with spin shots, it doesn't give better grip. It isn't worth the extra cost. If it was a fiver, I would probably stay on it, but I use enough chalk for it to get expensive!

@troyg1337 Жыл бұрын
Paying an extra £24.50 per time for such a marginal difference is just stupid....if you're not like in top 5% of players in the world the difference between a 50p triangle chalk and a £15 taom or this £25 stuff is non existent...if you're not in that top 5% you're simply not good enough for it to make a difference and definitely not for it to make enough of a difference to pay that price for it. The marks it leaves on the cue ball...who cares most people aren't playing with perfect and brand new well maintained balls anyway, just give the ball a quick wipe between games, as for what it leaves on the table just give that a brush with your hand if it's a noticeably large mark...there is 0 reason to pay this premium... especially if you're playing at your local pub/club because somebody is gonna pinch it
@apostyle9 ай бұрын
I partially agree, we must consider that there are players that enjoy buying premium stuff just to get the slight feel of what to be a top player means, and i think tehre's nothing wrong with that. Im a carom player and i use Master chalk, V10 and Roku. The last 2 last really long so is not like you're spending 25$ every month. If you want to improve your game and confidence and you consider that these expensive items will help, go ahead. But if you play once per week or per month just for fun, definitely this comparisson is not for you. I mean why you should buy a BMW if an OPEL or a KIA makes the exact same thing.
@TheSnookerShed9 ай бұрын
@javiercastromerino9702 thanks for watching I agree the casual players will use what the club has to offer and so they should but dedicated players should look at the options. The price of Roku £25 is mad and if you’re going through a cube per month you are chalking like mad. Same for V10 I play everyday and a one piece of V10 will do 8 months maybe. Can I ask do you play snooker or an American pool game ? I promote v10 not because I get anything from Taom just because it’s better chalk for snooker. No mess on the cloth that can’t be removed, reducing the amount of brushing on a snooker cloth is good, with them being £600 per table to refit and no mess on the cue ball so less kicks. I’m doing a little video on where the chalk goes just now testing triangle/v10 and Roku. Hopefully you will watch it and comment with your thoughts. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
