I like it without a bigger fish. Adding a big fish would take away what's going on in the community. Those Mascara Barbs and Royal Trout Danios are amazing

As i experience in the that if you put big fish even that doesnt eat small fish still they won't be confident as this is looking like now. So my suggestion will be or you know it add fishes like bosemani neon rainbows their full grown size is peak for this tank , quite comfortable for other barbs or harlequin rasboras other than that fishes might stress to swim freely. My fish suggestion : add some panda or sterby corydoras at bottom they will keep bottom clean and albino veiltail bristlenose pleco for the contrast again black rocks or driftwood. And a school for Celestial pearl danio would be amazing. And for bottom areas a group Bolivian rams , german blues or electric blues will so cool ❤

No suggestion for a centerpiece fish, but it would look cool down the center of this tank using slate with different colors of moss to simulate a cascading underwater waterfall effect starting higher in the back and coming down in the front. It could be any height you wanted so it wouldn't block vision to the back while being very dramatic! Thanks.

Center of the tank plant: Have you considered red tiger lotus? You'd get some killer red coloration at the top, but you'd still see the stalks of the leaves flowing in the current while not obstructing the view to the back. Would be cool to see what that could look like in a tank this large!

Snake skin gouramis would be a good centrepiece fish, they average between 5-9 inches full grown. They have your typical three spot or opline gourami body shape, so they have relatively small mouths better for grazing and eating insects off the surface rather than hunting other fish

Like the Eheim 2262 aka 1500xl , way better filter than FX6 IMO, holds way more media and no by-pass.. Second choice for me would be a working Vortex Diatom filter or if you prefer something newer, 2 x Marineland Polishing interior cannister filter and charge up the micron filter with diatom powder. 2 of those would make your water crystal clear in a couple of hours and be about 25% the price of a Eheim orFluval.

Even without the diatomaceous earth, the micron filter does a good job clearing up & polishing. They have a decent flow ( about or just under 300 gal./hr ). Let us know if that does the trick. I use one every couple of months in my discus tanks. They work for me. @@AquariumDomain.

I keep a large black shark in the tank with guppies he's about 15 inches. Funny thing with him he doesn't hurt small fish but he messes with the bigger fish. Plus it would go with your theme because you have all the rainbow sharks and red tail sharks...also balla sharks (I also have them in with guppies and they're about a foot long) or tin foil barbs (which have many color morphs) I have a panda tinfoil Barb pair pretty neat and they get pretty big as well.. I've noticed that they're growing slower than regular tinfoil Barb so maybe they don't get quite as large could be a color morph thing. P there are a lot of large growing barbs that you could add some are predatorial but most are not. I would say a giant gourami but they can be a**holes though lol. But a snake skin guarami gets to a good-size and is usually safe with small fish.. But if you want a true monster that won't eat any small fish just get an iridescent shark. I have a pair in tank with breeding severum and chocolate cichlid (I know crazy second time and the larger offspring are getting pretty neat looking ,I'm calling them chocolate severums) but all the fry survived and the iridescent sharks never ate any of them. All the fry are about 1 in now. Did I mention there are also 4 10 in cigar barbs (also known as golden sharks) in that tank. But the parents kept everybody at bay nobody touched their babies.

For the plants I think Cryptocoryne Balansae or better yet Cryptocoryne Retrospiralis will give you a slow growing (less maintenance) show piece yet not so bold or dence that it blocks the view to the back. As for the bottom dwellers, how about a dozen Kuhli Loaches. They only get about 3". They are fun to watch playing tag with each other with an occasional dart to the surface.

Well you have some options for a large asian fish. But not many that i can think of atleast. Giant gourami 20"+ usually super friendly with owner but risky to keep with fish that small. Good news is they like pellets and fresh veggies so theyre easy to feed. Fire eel 34-40" friendly after theyre tamed but you wont see them unless feeding before that probably. Probably gonna want to buy a larger one to start with 9-14". Gonna have to start adding earthworms and frozen shrimp to the shopping list. Ive never seen one eat prepared foods before. Super chill with everything exept other spiny eels. Tiretrack eel 24-30" Theyre basically a slightly smaller fire eel with different colors. They eat the same things and like/dislike the same things.
@AquariumDomain.
@AquariumDomain. Жыл бұрын
I am a fan of both of those Eels (in another tank one day), but the more I have thought about it I have decided to double down on more intricate plant scape and increasing the groups of medium fish....ie. @@AquariumDomain. fair enough I didn't realize you ment in that size range. If you can find rohans barbs they'd be cool to see. Same family as mascara barbs. Harder to find usually though. Tank is looking great! I can't believe you are having success with the val and redhooks together. I'm totally jealous, my silver dollars eat anything green including plastic plants! For a bigger fish, check out snakeskin gourami. They are a larger type of gourami but not giant, have small mouths, very colorful, and a much more peaceful fish than your typical blue/gold type. You could also look into some of the smaller spiny eels, like the peacock eel or some of the yellows. You can keep some of them in groups and they shouldn't bother anything else. No quite the statement the gourami would make, but still be cool additions.

To be honest most australian fish that are large would definantly eat most of your tank, so no barramundi, no bass, maybe look into what aussies call a yellow belly, i think its a yellow belly perch by name, but they get around a foot and a half long and are shaped like a giant praecox rainbow with a yellow belly.. one of those might be cool, or pay for a 2nd home loan and import a lungfish 😂

Yeah, I have been drawing a total blank on a big SE Asia / Aussie fish that would work with this tank...so thought I would throw it out there and see if anyone had any ideas. My Rainbows and Mascara Barbs still have some room to grow...so maybe those will be my big boys. Probably focus on some more big schools of little guys lol 😄

@@AquariumDomain. you could google pics of the big yellow bellies, there mostly vegetarians so will go good in a comunity tank with smaller fish..

Also, just curious how big are those rainbow shark, Denison barbs and that huge redtail shark ? Looks like you got some pretty mature specimens in there, all looking small because of how massive the tank is lol

Redtail was moved over, but most of the fish in the tank grew up there. Redtail shark is probably 8 inches but thick and tall, Rainbows are probably around 6 inches.

That would be a long list 😃 All the fish are from these species: Barbs, Rasora, Loaches, Rainbow Sharks, Gourami, Rainbow Fish and Danio along with some Siamese Algae eaters and Panda Garra.

I was hoping my 20 Siamese Algae eaters would get the job done, but hopefully adding many more plants will tip the scales 😀

What are the cyprinids that come across the vid... 0:37 first time. Grayish body, faint stripes in the body, red anal and pectoral fins, with river tipped caudal fin?

If you do get a big fish that won’t eat the others you would have to worry about it eating your plants being that it’s a herbivore.

What's the fish that is sort of shaped like a rainbow, and hasa olive brownish body with faint black blotches along the lateral line with either orange eyes and orange trim around the dorsal and anal fins, or white eyes and white trim around the dorsal and anal fins. I assume it's a sexually dimorphic species. Look to be about 4 inches long but scale gets wonky when looking at a video of a tank that's much larger than I'm used to. There are three of them in frame at 4:41, but don't blink or you will miss them!
