visiting San Francisco and riding the cable cars is one of my lifelong dreams. so cool how they still have no problem with people hanging off the sides of the car in this day and age, just like the old days! i hope and pray these amazing pieces of American history will continue to be maintained and enjoyed for many, many years to come!

San Francisco is such a beautiful magical place! There are so many fun things to do there and the possibilities are endless. Riding the cable cars was a dream of mine since I was around 3 years old. The Golden Gate Bridge is absolutely beautiful, the view is amazing and It is a trip that I will never forget.

Rode on the cable cars in 1982 when visiting the city. A great experience and lots of fun, the brake man and conductor were cracking jokes with the passengers, brought a model of the car as a souvenir which I still own. Good memories and a wonderful visit to a lovely city. Fisherman's wharf with its dough bread and the trip to Alkatraz was amazing.

No contest. San Francisco's cable cars were a success from day one; The New Orleans and Charleston Railroad, less than three blocks long, had an OVERHEAD cable, and was abandoned within a week of opening. S.F 1, N.O. 0.
@nicolaypastore5 жыл бұрын
@@bingola45 but New Orleans still has their streetcars and even has new cables for them to go further. I feel like San Francisco has the best and most modern looking cable cars. New Orleans has a unique culture and they even call their cable cars streetcars. So besides the cable cars, What makes San Francisco the ultimate city to live in? How is their culture, food, people, scenery, nightlife, weather, parks, etc?
@bingola455 жыл бұрын
@@nicolaypastore N'Awlins doesn't have cable cars. The street railways went directly from horse or mule cars to Sprague-type electric cars, worked from an overhead current-carrying conductor, with the return circuit through the running rails. This is the system which remains in use today. I'm a transport historian, rather than a culture vulture, but I have heard that New Orleans is very French (unsurprisingly), and that San Francisco is full of queers, wierdos and dropouts, and is really part of Mexico.
