As an American, it's almost impossible to watch this and not make comparisons between Japan and the US. We could never have something like this because so many people would abuse EVERYTHING. I love the fact that this exists in Japan and that people can follow directions, keep things neat and organized and be respectful of their surroundings. I can't wait to visit one day. Oh 100%. I work breakfast at a best western and its horrible how some people act. They make huge messes, leave the mini fridge open, leave their trash on the counters and sometimes people put back their half eaten yogurts? As if someone wants it?

Unfortunately even though in most cultures a big majority of people are already like this, unfortunately there is still a minority who seem to think that the world owes them a living and that anything left around is there for them to help themselves to or simply vandalise. I know many people who have things like this but in different forms such as take one leave one libraries and food pantries and they all require trust. It was a cool video and I’m glad I get to see the interesting things in the world even if I cant visit there!!

You could have this in the USA, except that everything would have to come from vending machines so people couldn't steal extra. Although this assumes a capsule hotel would be popular and a viable business when most Americans are used to having their own rooms. You'd also have a noise problem for the same reason, and because of fat people with sleep apnea and snoring. I think it would have to start out as only one floor of a hotel and a cheap alternative to the normal room. If it was popular and viable they could expand it in the future. From a 2016 article I found, most hotels are dropping amenities like pools, smoking rooms, room service, and spas. Although gyms were increasing in popularity. What better way to bring back a bunch of amenities than to lower costs with capsules?

What I admire about the Japanese people is how outstanding their cleanliness is ,not a drop of litter and spotless toilets, another thing is how they respect the food sections and drink stations and only take what they need ,I absolutely believe I'd this was here in the UK it would be trashed and misused .I totally could live full time in a capsule hotel like this full time ,I love the idea of having a lovely sleeping room so cosy and clean I have no worries about being scared ,I love small spaces to be in like this ,I am so impressed by the cleanliness,only thing I don't think I'd like is a raw egg with rice haha but over all am obsessed with watching videos like this x

I stayed at a capsule hotel in Tokyo 3 years ago at Shinjuku, $26 a night, that one had a little bar and restaurant that make hot food 24/7. most people there are office workers and some backpackers, the library had rows and rows of books and manga. and the sleeping quarter was quiet like a tomb it was surreal and tranquil, i don't think i would go to a real hotel anymore for $85. I think if capsule hotel exist in America, it would probably look like a detention center or a homeless shelter 😂😂😂

Amazing video! I can’t believe they only charge $320 a month. Especially when they offer all of the free stuff, and amenities. You can’t even get a nice hotel for 3 days at $320, and that’s not including food. A lot of people in USA would steal everything they could, and not think twice about the person coming behind them. Here in the U.S. I stayed at the Hilton and paid for an expensive beach front suite. The water glasses were dirty, the floor was wet on the inside near the balcony, the coffee maker was old and malfunctioning, towels were dingy, and the very diverse staff were quite indifferent to my wife and I. If I were at a Hotel 6 paying a hundred bucks a night I would expect some of that, but my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and thought paying four hundred a night would make our trip memorable. It did, in the worst way.

After watching this I plan on visiting Japan and now I know that I can afford to stay a while and really see the country. How lovely to be able to sleep amidst quiet...in the US there is always someone slamming a door or talking loudly in the hallway and as for the price, so much less. I look forward to trying this out. This capsule hotel is not well known even among Japanese. I was very surprised when I first found it. It is a little more expensive than other capsule hotels, but much cheaper than ordinary hotels, and very cost-effective. Definitely recommended. The beds are much larger than those in other capsule hotels, there are several kinds of shampoos and treatments, even though it is a hotel for men, there are many kinds of lotion, milky lotion, toothpaste, perfume, deodorant for clothes and even pillows to choose from. This hotel is part of a chain, and in addition to Kyoto, there are also branches in Tokyo and Nagoya. At the Ogikubo branch in Tokyo, you can see the crowds in the public baths and restaurants from your bedroom, which was also convenient, and the free food was curry, which was delicious.

the ambience and amenities at this hotel is too good to be true. imagine an international chain purchasing this hotel and jacking the price really high. i used to travel quite a bit through thailand and there was a small local-chain that offered incredible value to its customers. a few years later, it was bought up; the quality nose-dived and the price went up, up up. great video .. domo arigatou

Here, Americans, read this: 1. He’s obviously filming mostly in the middle of the day, so the hotel is empty because people are out working or doing activities. Presumably he did this intentionally to avoid bothering people. 2. Eggs are treated in Japan with a cleaning agent before going to market, so eating them raw is entirely safe and common. 3. Basic foods in Japan are quite cheap. It’s not uncommon to get a big bowl of ramen with pork and egg for about 600 yen (about $5). People in Japan won’t stuff themselves on free food so the costs of the free stuff is probably around $5 a day per guest. Japanese businesses aren’t burdened with nearly the regulations and taxes as the US, so they don’t need as high of margins. With a large number of guests in a small footprint, this hotel will do just fine.

Very impressed with how clean everything in the hotel was. You could never have that in the US. Especially not an open bar, on the honor system. It would be wiped out in less than an hour. This hotel is awesome and the free amenities are unbelievable. I want to go there.

This video has slipped through my fingers while exploring all your video's a while back, so i got to see it eventually. This place is definitely my kind of place. Not because of the free offerings, or because of low prices when staying longer time, but because of the music playing in the back. I noticed that many places you visit in your videos play jazz music. That makes me happy and want me to visit Japan even more, cause jazz music in public places you never ever hear where i live in the Netherlands. I could stay in this capsule hotel for months. And on the process free food and alcohol....Heaven to me!

Turn that rice into fried rice with scrambled egg and a few bits of chicken breast, and I would have that every day of the week.

People automatically assume that it’s so inexpensive when in fact it’s a very high price and obviously no matter how clean it appears, but I can imagine the people if they stay there would absolutely wreck their health long term! Japanese are known for their preference of privacy because they are statistically on average population of elderly people. Think about 40% of the elderly population who probably still prefer rural areas as the the only the young population is forced to share tiny flats en masse as they study and work at all hours in the city and live inside their universities and workplaces and don’t have time to utilize such locales and more likely would stay over on holidays or breaks. But even those folks have to return back to the farm or family homes to care for their aged parents and relatives whom they likely support. I can imagine why the birthdate is terribly low here, because the culture is so highly developed -in fact over developed, that they have to invent machines for their service jobs for basic survival. And they are so overly open about sex in their anime culture that I can see the major repression on the subject. But this is merely my idea of the society there and not an opinion just based on my personal study of the country itself as I am obsessed with anthropology and sociology. Places like Japan and Sweden are so oddly similar in their isolated nature yet see how totally opposite but both are identical in their love of nature and nurture like yen and yang. It’s really remarkable how they manage to be so green and to keep clean and recycle. Cleanliness is after all key in good health, good appearance, and not materialistic but aimed at a balance in life comfort. Used to be everyone wanted a Swiss bank account and to retire on beachfront mansions but now they are spending less on housing and cars and soooo much more on comfort and how to be as lazy as possible. They have figured out how that Rolex third copies are just junk and hopefully they will go back to family life as it used to be rather than killing their children to retire in obscurity! I see this is off topic but more and more of an issue that modern science is overpopulating the planet and the sick are getting sicker but living in misery longer and longer! Who will be left to care for them if the robots malfunction or tomorrow we lose internet???? Is anyone thinking forward? I don’t see it happening and this really worries me. A disturbing pattern and now pandemic, wars, and slavery is what we are only seeing! Less and less US and so much more ME. So much that we are losing our self awareness and identity socially and becoming so isolated that laws are systematically corrupt all across the board except for remote locations like Siberia and it has to change soon and come to world peace if we want to see our children have children of their own in future! Ok off my speech now!!!! I just theorize and philosophize all day so what do I know, though? Love from the Wild West in the USA. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

For an introvert like me, this place is heaven, instructions in japanese and english, all you can eat food from what i've seen, free soft drinks, free snacks, they increased the alcohol from 3 to 5 on their website from what i've seen? That is an awsome hotel, loving it. As a german I am very happy with the efficency of these capsule hotels espcially when they communalize bathingspace and such, whilst still providing some personal space. If there was a hotel like this in germany it would be highly popular with young people, espcially apprentices and people who study due to the pricing making it actually affordable living space, something not very common in german cities. (Espcially thoose that feature Universities or major employers.)

german education system is weird. i heard only people who went to gym can go to universities, and a large bunch goes to apprenticeship and wont go uni. for a country that priortise STEM fields, why does so many people goes to apprenticeship instead of uni and people are ok with that? also is it true that all german unis have no rankings, as long as your result is ok you can enter any uni?
